Goodyear LRG's? Not a great idea unfortunately.

You can search any popular RVing forum and read about the poor results of GY LRG tires. Tread loss with GY LRG tires and the damage to side walls and fender areas of HH fifthwheels was so common on the HitchHiker forum NuWa Industries, Inc. that NuWa began offering 17" wheels and tires as an option.

The tires are notorious for tread loss and trailer damage but GY, to their credit, always seems to pay for the damage repair.

That most certainly hasn't been my experience. If I could trust the G614s after two (2) tread separations and $2500 damage to the RV, I wouldn't have replaced them with the 17. 5" Michelin XTAs.

RJC,

You have a point. The 614s had a run several years ago with that issue. Your going to the 17. 5s is an idea that I would also like to do but I am now running a complete new set of 614s that Forest River gave me when they replaced my axles.

Walter,

Back last year I took my DayDreamer to my truck tire supplier to rotate my tires. When he crawled under my RV he noticed uneven tire wear on the inside of tires. I contacted my dealer and he recommended me to have axles aligned and straightened. My dealer contacted Forest River and they contacted the axle maker. They ended up replacing both axles with 8k axles instead of 7k. And replaced all four wheel and 4 new tires. With the heavier springs and brakes the rig handles much better. No cost to me. I have had absolutely no trouble with the GY 614s.
