Getting ready to replace the vacum pump seal and while I am at it going to replace the steering gear box as well. Any tips, tricks, things to watch out for doing these two items.

Any idea on how much power steering fluid I should stock up on the refill and bleed?

Any and all advice welcome going to hit them this weekend.

I would pull the vac and steering pump as a unit. Very easy to replace the seal between the pumps. Good luck.

I bought my kit from Geno's Garage. The Gould kit comed with 2 sets of seals. I used 2 quarts of power steering fluid, but that was for the power streering pump only, not the steering box.

Depending on how bad the leak is, you may want to power wash the engine bay. When I did the fix on my 01, it had leaked a mess something awful!

Some Simple Green and a handful of quarters at the car wash made the job a bit easier (it is an easy job anyway. )

Well got it done today. It was a pita though. Even though I washed the area down good with simple green and the car wash which did help a lot there was still a fair amount of oily/dirt mess to deal with. Just not much room to work down in there. The seal kit was fairly easy. I also replaced my steering pump while doing the vacuum pump.

I also added the fleetguard enviroguard or whatever it is called. (there closed loop crankcase ventilation system). Had it sitting around for year or so. It would have been a real pita to get that in without having the vac pump out of the way.

I am getting ready to put in a new concrete driveway and and finally decided I had to deal with the dodge/cummins leaks. Thanks for the tips.

I usually have to do the seal between the two pumps twice. For some reason I mess up the first one, everytime.
