Cab filter install question

Spent last Saturday installing new upper & lower ball joints in my truck. Went with MOOG K7460 for the upper & MOOG K7467 for lower. Pretty cut and dry install. Monday morning dropped off my truck to get alignment. Was pulling extremely hard to the passenger side on the way there. Got truck back that evening, still pulling hard to passenger side. Next day took it back to same shop to get it realigned. Get phone call from the manager telling me that they cannot get my truck in alignment because I need to have adjustable upper ball joints. The part I am confused about is 2 years ago had tires rims put on truck took it to the same alignment shop & they had no problem aligning it. Talked to the MOOG tech on the phone and he told me what I installed is a factory replacement. Has anyone else had this same problem with these ball joints & and not being able to dial in alignment.

I'm going to throw this out there... could someone have slipped an adjustable joint into the non-ajustable joint box?? I've seen this before, and even had something similar happen to parts I have had "special ordered". I would suspect the joint that was installed was not the correct one marked on the box.

If you replaced a fixed joint with a fixed joint, it should have had very little affect on alignment... mine was still in specification after replacing balljoints (fixed Moog also).

Welcome to Moog world. I had Moogs installed and the truck drives like crap. There's a bunch of posts on here saying the same thing.

Had the adjustable moogs installed sometime ago and after many allignments still drives like crap. Stay away from the adjustables.

Funny, I've had mine installed for nearly 100k and they are just as smooth and tight as the day they were installed, and tighter than the OEs were when new. I would not hesitate to buy another set... if I ever need them.

"Truck drives like crap" can be attributed to many things, including poor alignments.

DCadigan, i feel your pain. I went down this road a while back. I, like steved had mentioned earlier, had a box of adjustable's when they were supposed to be fixed. I already had everything torn down so just went ahead and installed them. The ball joints i pulled out were non-adjustable, so no, you don't have to HAVE to have an adjustable ball joint. In fact you SHOULDN'T need them unless you have a bent housing or something that would warrant needing to adjust camber.

If i were you, i would just double check real quick and make sure everything was installed correctly and tight. Check for wear on ALL front end steering parts, and address as needed. Then take it to a different alignment shop for a second opinion. I had one shop tell me they couldn't align my truck because i have manual hubs:rolleyes: I obviously ended up going to a different alignment shop and they had no problems.

Mine with the bad moog joints didn't pull but I did chase the truck all over the road. I replaced every thing under the front end before I accepted that the Moog joints where bad. I put oem's in it and it drove perfect again. I looked at carli's but deceided that if I can get 120k out of the first oem's that they will be fine for a second round and then if I still have truck might go with carli's.

Took my Moogs about 10,000 miles to break in and seat, now it handles better than new. Mine were very tight and/or rough at the start.

Have around 40,000 miles on them now.

Tires are wearing perfectly just the same as always.

Mike. :)

I am glad you like 'em. My stockers went at 37K. I had the Moogs installed, and have since done the '08 upgrade w/ new damper, etc. , and the truck still doesn't track worth a damn, now at 52K. The shop has done alignments on other stuff for me with no issues. Sorry, I am confident it is the Moogs. I just can't afford to change them in order to prove it at the moment.

Finally got a alignment shop that knew what they were doing. Heavy duty trucks shops are better than any dealer out there. They got it right on the money. Had to switch my front 2 tires. I had a tire pull on the passanger side. Thanks for all the help... Back on the road and riding straight. Anyone in the Northern Va area... I highly recommend Chantilly Spring Works in Sterling. Top notch and super knowledgeable staff.

If you bought them from ROCK AUTO that is entirely possible

I've done a few front ends now the Moog parts might be ok for a Gasser truck but with the extra weight of our Cummins they just don't hold up. Yes I know that there are few of us that say that the Moog's work awesome for them, They got lucky is all I can say. My truck would bind so bad you could not drive it down the road at any speed. with the tires off the ground everything was nice and loose to Moog's spec's. Do your self a favor spend the money on a Dynatraxx set or do the Dynatraxx lowers with the Carli uppers like I have on my rig. I've got over 80,000 on the Carli's and they just keep getting better. NO slop at all only nice smooth steering. The Dynatraxx lowers are the same just smooth. Talking with the engineers at Dynatraxx they told me that their Ball joint sets are rebuildable in the truck. They have been on the market many years now and they have yet to sell a rebuild kit!!! Sorry Moog your quality has slipped too far.
