2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission softer riding 2500?

Anyone try to soften the ride of their 2500? I don't plan on towing anything large/heavy, would like to entertain the idea of figuring out how to soften the ride. Maybe even lower it just a tad, like get rid of the 2" front spacer and make the rear to match. Any problems with removing the spacer between the two leaf packs on the rears? Probably the only way to get softer springs is to get new spring packs with thinner springs and more springs per pack?

I think Carli only sells lifted spring packs. They buy their springs from deaver springs. You would be better off calling deaver directly and having them made to order. It will be cheaper. They were going to make me a custom one-off set of springs for my truck which is way outside of stock weight parameters for less than what carli charges for a production spring

The Carli Hemi coils work great on the second gen diesels. The Carli 2nd gen rear spring... ... ... ... I would not call a production spring. It went through tons of r&d with many revisions before it was released.

I am very happy with both on my 94. Much softer ride than the previous Kore Set up I was running.

I agree Carli stuff is nice but they are not made to order. They do r&d until they are happy with the results then they but the final version into production to sell in quantity. The cummins went through a lot of r&s but it is still a production engine.

Let me explain it this way,if you call a spring shop they will build what you ask and it may or may not come out to work the way you or the spring shop thought.

I have seen the R&D process in many different companies. The first article rarely goes into production because it could have been better. Springs are the same way. You order one set and good luck if it is as good as you expected. Just getting the ride height correct is only going to be close.

In all seriousness, have you tried adding some sandbags or tractor weights? I try to drive around with at least 500 pounds of something in the bed at all times as it really smooths out the ride.

Hadn't given that a thought. Would help with winter traction too Your suppose to keep your vehicle as light as possible for better mpg? Clean the junk in your trunk. 500lbs probably would not affect mpg in our trucks?

Loading the Mule with produce doesn't affect the mileage matter of fact the Cummins/trans/diffs hardly notice the difference. In 2009 I put boost and egt gauges on, with a load on I only run 2 more lbs of boost and 25 to 50 degrees in egt at highway speeds (Now when I got the go pedal down to reach highway speeds the boost and egt do go up).

I know when my Father had a couple of yards of gravel dumped in the bed of his truck it rode like a Caddy. I had the bed of my truck filled with broken up cement one time (crossed the scales at 11400 lbs) and it rode like a low rider caddy. .

Do they still make the Velvet Ride Shackles for the rear? The idea was to give you a smooth ride using the suspension built into the shackle and then when you are loaded, it would set on the leaf springs and you would have a supported load.
