In the last week I have had the overhead recommend replacing the air cleaner twice. "?" I replaced the Air Filter in February at 31,000 I now have 35,000. That is a terribly short life expectancy for an air filter. It clears itself usually after I restart. Any ideas? I took the baffle out but that shouldn't do much.

JCJohnson,

When members don't provide any indication of the truck they own or where they live in their posts it prevents other members from offering informed suggestions to reported problems.

For example, if you live in a part of the country where 100% humidity and daily rain is common a TDR member might suggest that moisture in your air filter is giving a false indication that your filter is dirty.

If we knew what truck you own another member might know from personal experience that his identical truck had a unique problem that was cured by a dealer reflash of his ECM.

The ECM uses several sensors to determine restriction, when the overhead says to replace the fitler its either from a faulty sensor or a restriction.

When you took the baffle out did everything else get hooked back up properly?

Pull the filter and look at it.

HBarlow Sir I apologize but being new to the site I am still learning and figuring things out. How do you put up the bottom signature? Thanks for your support

Welcome to TDR JCJohnson! Under the Discussion Forum menu at the top of the page, scroll down to User COntrol Panel. Then all the Edit functions will be on the left side of the screen. GO to Edit Signature and type in your truck info there. Other Edit functions will give different results. Explore and have fun.

Cheers,
Ken

Must this Signature be done on a PC or can it happen on a Mac? I have written one and saved it I also tried to add a pic for the Avatar-The truck so far I see none of it? Ah Ha said the blind man! There it is!

I have pulled the intake baffle, I have a BADF exhaust from turbo to muffler and a MP-8 to install. Looking forward to learning a lot. I also recently picked up a Smarty Jr. I may need some help soon down loading the Deletes or ME can't decide. 35,000 miles still think'n 'bout the warranty.

JC: First of all ... Welcome to TDR! This signature is done online and through the TDR servers. It dosn't make any difference whether you are on a MAC or a PC. There will be an open block area for you to type in your information and there is no need to save it somewhere else and copy or cut and paste. You CAN do that if you wish but not necessary. Also, be advised that there is a character limit and if your signature has too many characters it may not accept your input. Just do what KLauber stated and you will be just fine!
In your signature; describe your truck the usual way and include any modifications or upgrades also. It helps the motorheads on here with lots of knowledge. Enables them to make that "educated guess" :-laf and more often than not... they are right! Saved me lots of time and money that's for sure!
As for your problem. You say the air filter is new. Unless you just drove through a sandstorm we will assume that it is still funtional... . However... . Take it out and look at it and make sure as AH64 stated. I am inclined to think it might be a sensor problem as they are quite common in that area for some reason. Good Luck! MAJ D
