Pulled the 5er to the coast and back this weekend, when I got home I unhooked and parked the truck. About 5 min. later the power steering pump puked oil out the cap???? It has been fine since any ideas?

If you don't have any brake power assist after the engine is shut off, that little blue can on the power brake booster has lost it's charge. If that is the problem, the blue cans are available for around $80 instead of $600 for the whole power booster.

 OK RD how or why would that make my power steering fluid come out. I may have hit the brake after the truck was turned off it was parked on a slight hill.

The blue can on the brake power boost unit is filled with nitrogen and when it escapes, it blows back into the power steering reservoir and blows the fluid out. The power steering pump is what provides brake assist. Hope this helps a bit. There may be other reasons for the fluid to blow out of the power steering, I only know about this one.

Mind did exactly the same thing. Thanks to the TDR I knew what happened. When I took it to the **ealer, it took them two days to figure out what I had told them, and to replace it.

Thanks guys, do they sell the blue can at the dealer? I still have brakes when the engine is off but I dont hear that boost of air anymore.

No the dealer does not sell just the blue can. I got mine form HYDROBOOST. COM. It is a small shop in Michigan that makes and sells hydraulic brake assist conversion kits. Real nice people. I think there are a couple more places that will sell just the can, one is in Calif but I don't know their name. Another check to determine if the charge is gone from the can is to just wiggle it back and forth. If it wiggles the charge is gone. Also it is easy to change. There is a round clip holding it in. There is a small hole in the top of the housing to insert a small nail or whatever and get the clip out of the grove. The hardest part is finding some sort of C clamp to fit in the area to push the blue can in and hold it while the clip is removed and replaced. I used a short bar clamp for wood working. Hope this helps some.

I tried the URL, but it does not go to the company you are talking about, just a parking page...
