No fight here. I'm still driving my y2k and will keep it till i'm dead. Less complicated and still runs great. Moe

Yep. Still driving my 01. 110,000 miles. And the best part is, the only problem I've had with the truck was a VP44 at 67,000 miles. Other than regular maintenance, it's been trouble free.

Now that I say that the trans will blow up or something. OP you need to post your mileage.

Now that's my 01, not my son's truck. I bought it new Oct, 2000 the day after Thanksgiving. Mine is a white, 2500 4X4 long box, auto trans with the basic Edge timing box and three inch Jardine exhaust. And a *****en all Aluminum Denver Off Road front bumper. Way cool!!!

Still in the 00 and plan on keeping it as long as I can. Close to 280k miles runs like a top and as stated previously less complicated and easy to maintain.

I am still running mine at 168,000 miles with the only real major problem the lift pump which I replaced with Air Dog. Most other changes was optional on my part. I agree now I said something the rear end will fall out or something.

Wife's 01 has 212000 well earned miles and still rolling good. Damn shame dodge can't make a body to last as long as the engine. The dash which has never had more than a sheet of papermor glasses on it is cracked so bad you could loose a six pack in it.

Nyoest,

I made a call to Chrysler Customer Care in 2009 and explained to a very nice lady what was going on with my dash. Couple weeks later and a trip to a dealer so they could verify it was falling in, Chrysler agreed to pay the labor to replace the dash top if I paid for the top itself. Saved me $500 dollars, the top was just over $400.

2001 with 223,000 miles and going strong. Keeping on eye on structural and suspension components now for excessive rust. Likely will need another set of brake lines soon.

I bought my truck in sept of 01 (week after 9/11). It is an early 02. The only problem Ive had was a lift pump and the vp pump at about 50k. (about 90k on the truck now No other problems.

My truck runs as well as it did brand new. I like the look of the 2nd gens, I dont like the look of the 3rd gens at all. I like the sound of the 2nd gens as well.

Even though it is almost 10 years old, I still have people come up to me and say "nice truck". This thing runs as well, and is as reliable as it was when it was brand new.

Well, I guess I do have one complaint. Several years ago I had the passenger side cabin light replaced. I think it was the whole switch assembly. Anyway, it lasted for a couple of years and doesnt work again. I never use that side, and it isnt a big deal, so Ive never replaced it.

Nyoest,

This is the number I called and the person I spoke to, can't guarantee she is still there though. I did not have any problems getting it done I just explained to her that my dash was falling in and I understood it was due to a defect in the material.

1-800-992-1997 ask for Megan @ I. D ME601

mine is approaching 208,000 and runs great, just ordered new shocks and steering stabilizer from genos, lotsa maintenance stuff to do this summer but its all good:D

My 2001. 5 has 90K on the clock. Original brakes! VP at 52K - dead pedal and PO216. Except of being a std cab and very noisy, it has been a great truck. No money in the budget for a new one anyway! Tows our 12K+ 5th wheel well. SNOKING

98. 5 here, bought it new, 140K miles, still love it, prolly be buried in it.

Since I bought my Freightliner and converting to tow my 5er my son is angling to get my Dodge so will stay in the family. I will probably wind up giving it to him like I have other vehicles I have owned. I wish my Dad had good vehicles like that and gave them to me. At least the Freightliner has a Cummin's just a little more IRON!!!
