Circ door whistle

The evaporator in my truck was leaing so I had it replaced. A/C works okay but not wonderful. It just doesn't seem to be pushing much air out of the vents even when on high. The weirdest thing about all of it is a high pitched whistle (not my turbo) that develops after 60 mph. It will stop if I turn the recirc button OFF. I tried to crack the window in hopes that it was just cabin pressure building but no such luck. The Dodge tech also tried to recalibrate all the doors in the HVAC system. This didn't help either. Anyone else have any thoughts?? Thanks-Ryan

Sounds like the foam on the recirc door coming loose. . or the door is just about ready to break...

drop you blower motor. i bet you have a chunk of plastic in the cage. the happens when the door breaks. also reach up and if the door is jammed (blocking most of the air) pull and break door to fully remove.

with plastic in the cage is sounds like a jet fighter is in the dash when its on high.

this is one connector and a few torx screws under the glove box. Easy to do.

I'm going to check this out tomorrow. I have thought about doing heater treater treatment just to make sure I have my bases covered.

Was the noise not there before the evaporator was replaced? If not, the technician did not get the recirc door to cowl in place properly, or the cowl adapter was pulled loose when the repair was done. The cowl adapter has a foam seal that can be pulled loose. The whistle is air from the cowl trying to get into the passenger compartment and it can't get past the recirc door that is closed. It takes the path of least resistance and whistles through the small gap in the seal.
