Just got home from a 10 mile trip, and turned the ignition switch off, and engine continues to run. Help?

Other than this the truck runs fine. I turn the ignition on and off, and the dash lights will come on, and go off. No other symptoms. Scratching my head.

Fiddled for 15 minutes and figured out it was the fuel shutoff solenoid. It was in the down position. I moved it up, and the engine shut off.

This one is a year a few months old. What's up with that?

At least it's not a Ford PS. Had a guy call my shop and it took over 4 hours for him to get it shut down (phone call, try this, calls back, no, I said this, not that... ).

Glad you found the source. Hope the relay fixes it for you.

Wait? You lifted the fuel shut-off lever UP?!?! That should allow fuel to the pump..... is that a typo, or do you have something other than the factory fuel shutoff?

Yep. Strange, eh?

First I pulled, down and it seemed to be all the way down. So I pulled it up. Climbed into the truck turned the switch off and the truck shut down.

A burned relay? Linkage hang up? Will check measurements next chance I get.

Solenoid is stock from Dodge. It and the relay was replaced (by ex owner for over $500 at dealer) a year and a couple months ago.

Truck has had a new starter and alternator in the past six months. Maybe I outta order one of those Larry B's Solenoid Saver Diode ... .

Still scratching my head over this one.

Sounds to me like the fuel shut off lever is loose on the shaft... ... maybe, when you lifted it up, it went back to where it should have been, and then went down when you cut it off... ... that is a wierd one, to me. I'd check arm and make sure it's tight... .

Here's a link to the relay from Geno's that I mentioned earlier. It is located on the firewall. There are two of them there and I don't recall which one is the fuel shutoff relay, but maybe someone else may remember. I am thinking it is the one closest to the master cylinder.

Yes, IIRC, should be that one, which should be the larger one, 90amp, I think, about 1/2 wider and taller than the other. The smaller one is 35-40amp, IIRC.
