Yup ... 2 bolts for the pump and I put a new thermostat in while I had it drained.

Edit: WOW on rereading your post you got 350,000 miles out of the original pump ?

Mine only lasted about 110,000.

OEM parts are usually the best avenue to take. But, when it come to the water pump for the ISB series engine, you can't get any more basic. I paid $46 out the door for mine at Advance Auto Parts. Works like a champ.

Chances are that was OEM too. Did you compare it to the replaced part????

O would not count on that I have seen too many off shore parts

Especially at that price point

the fuel pump I bought from autozone was OEM... delivered 36 hours (8 hours)faster and less than 50% dealer price.

Sometimes you never can tell as the song goes.

Water pump

I replaced a water pump on an 05 CTD recently and used an after market part because an OEM or re-man was not available right at the moment.

I generally avoid after market parts but due to the simplicity of the Cummins water pump design and urgency I thought how could they screw this up!

I checked with all the local suppliers including NAPA and they all had the same new after market part.

So I went with a new after market pump which BTW was only $3. 00 more than a re-man, BIG MISTAKE! The pump would not fit into the block.

Closer inspection found visible irregularities in the casting on the outer edge of the o-ring grove and it also came with a round section o-ring rather than a square one.

The impeller was also typical Chinese being thin poorly welded JUNK!

The bolt hole spacing was also 0. 070 off.

Limited space prevented me from seeing exactly where the interference was.

I ended up ordering a reman unit which was an original Cummins part and it installed as expected.

I filed a labor claim for 2 hours wasted and advised the parts man to ditch the after market and stock the re-man part.
