Help me understand

[WM-300]

My cooling fan started to run very slow. About a day prior, my engine really seemed to loose power. A friend scanned for codes. I had a cooling fan code and a fan speed code.



Put on a new fan clutch and cleared the codes. Problem is fixed. But the truck now has its full power back. What does a fan problem have to do with engine performance. My engine temps were never above my normal.

Ok, but shouldn't I have seen a check engine light to alert me to codes tossed ? The check engine light does come on when the key is first flipped on , as it should.
