Well, made the anual pilgrimage to Columbus this year for the Mopar Nationals. Think 3500 old and new Mopars, 50,000 people, and a drag strip. Yup. Its never bad!

Thought I would take a few pics of the first gens that are still alive and well if you know where to look!

Below are some pics in no particular order. Shots are from the show and the evening cruise.

So there you have it! That is the Nats in the event you have never been. There was close to another 20 1st gens in the swap meet but I did not have my camera, and was not wanting to walk the . 5 mile back with my camera in the 85 F heat! ;)

That brought back a lot of great memories as I grew up in the 60s and 70s.

Owned a few of those in my day rode around in many more.

What's with all the white smoke though? I don't recall any of that. :-laf:-laf

Once again..... I laid my ears back when I saw the thread title... . BAAHHHH!!! ..... I'm gettin' eatin' up with envy, now!!!! Beautiful pics, thaks a ton!!

I bet it would!!! I had a friend go... he goes every year. He probably took his Yellow Roadrunner. . he's got 7-8 of 'em, such as a SuperBird, a 440 6 pack 'Cuda, a 70 Challenger w/ Hemi, a Demon with a 572? Hemi, and..... I can't remember all. He used to have over 1,000 older muscle cars in his back yard, but he sold them a few years ago and started parting out the Dodge diesels..... ever seen anyone shatter a billet flexplate on a Cummins? Or tear the studs off a triple-disk torque convertor??!?! He's done it with his daily driver!! Guy loves to play, and I think we get along pretty good!! He's got ten acres of Dodge trucks, some stacked 3 deep!!! But I digress.....

He goes every year, and always bring back some cool photos and parts... . I'm always jealous... seems you hit that spot too! :D Maybe I need to put that on my list of things to do next summer... ... and take Dad.

As for the Daytona, if that's the one I think it is, it's one of the last chassis cars Joe Smith built... . the rear axle is tubbed forward 12inches... . the front spindles are 6 inches in front of #1 cylinder... it would leave out like a bullet!! It was a sub-9 second car with just a parts motor and a single Dominator carb..... The whole front clip sits in slots, and can be pulled off and set to the side by pulling 4 cotter pins... . that was a nice car... .

And the Orange W200 was badass, too. That's a nice job someone did, wasn't it!!??! Ugh, makes me want another project, too... ... after I finish the last 45 or so... . :D
