From my understanding, there are no other differences other than the final gear ratio. If you are going from the 09 to 05 it might take some getting used. My early 06 tows like a dream but is wound tight on the interstate.

5th is the only gear that is the same.

1-4th at 5. 6% taller, 6th is 6. 3% taller.

1st 6. 29 vs 5. 94
2nd 3. 48 vs 3. 28
3rd 2. 10 vs 1. 98
4th 1. 38 vs 1. 31
5th 1. 00 vs 1. 00
6th 0. 79 vs 0. 74

My '07 has the lower gears. With the 34" tires,it's probably the only thing keeping my clutch healthy. :)

My dad has an 06 with the lower gears and tows a lot, probably 70% of his miles or more. He is at 80K on the stock clutch, 70K of which are with the Smarty Jr. .

It's amazing how well that . 79OD tows.

you can buy a g56 reman from dodge with a 5 year 100K warentee up to the year 05 but the newer ones you can buy new but only with a 12/36 if i'm not mistaken. I am almost always towing I would most likely like the lower gears.

Yeah,I got one of the first Smarty Sr's released 4. 5 yrs ago approx. I'm only using sw#1 with the constant camper load. Gotta milk this dmf for awhile as home improvements are happening lately. That OFE is what I'll get.
