I just got my DMV vehicle registration renewal for my 1998 12v California emissions smog check. I need to reconnect all the EGR system, i have all the old parts except the exhaust manifold.

What are my options for a replacement to accommodate the EGR tube that goes from the exhaust manifold to the intake? OEM Dodge or Cummins or are there aftermarket brands that will work?

Thanks, Mike

You might check with some of the diesel performance shops that do exhaust or sell systems such as Source Automotive in Portland OR, Peak Diesel or PDR Diesel in British Columbia, etc (they ship from US). . . they may have one sitting around. One thing you could do when reinstalling your components is block off the EGR tube some way or sandwich a plate between the tube and manifold.

cap the EGR and find a diesel friendly shop to do the emissions test. or you could call up some scrap yards and see if they have a stock manifold on hand so you can get it cheap.

Reinstall all the pieces and JB Weld the tube to the manifold in a handy place so it looks like it is functional. Its just a visual check to see if the pieces are there. They don't check to see if it actually works. If it looks close to being right you will probably pass.

You devil... ... ... . :-laf

Mike. :)

pass or fail is completely at the discression of the mechanic who performs the test so if you find a tech that happens tobe a good ol boy you could have a cloud exit your tail pipe and still pass.

if your you think your truckis too smoky, schedule the test on a windy day
