Oshkosh??

BigNasty, should you make over to Oshkosh in 2012 keep your eye out for a Citabria Super Decath with, "VF 111 Sundowner" paint scheme... I'll be there. I've got some FAC stories that I'll bet you haven't heard. :D

Flights in B-17's are always fun, of course they will cost ya $425 per seat.

Bett that was fun. Our ride was long time ago and was 300 ea so not bad if it was not long ago. The old planes are so much fun to ride in. The smells/vibrations/smoke it's what flying was all about. It wasn't about the money she just didnt like the idea of her son going on such an old plane. He still talks about it and he was about 10 when we did it.

This B29 was the Back up for the Enola Gay. It flew (no rides darn it ) but it was just making high speed passes and ask the tower if he could run the pylons they gave them the ok and THAT WAS SOMETHING TO SEE Im trying to find the pics of it banking the pylon. Anybody that even had an idea about aircraft was just screaming it was truly an awesome sight. The crew had BALLS THE SIZE OF GIBRALTER TO DO IT

This was the guy to beat when we were going all the time. 3rd weekend in Sept. was ALLWAYS RENO. Bill Destefani was an ag sprayer in Bakersfield CA I guess that racing wasnt that much different than work for him :-laf Not much lift on those clipped wings. That's another reason for the split S at the top of the Mayday pull up they have to retain as much air speed as they can glide ratio is shot all to hell with wings that short

BN, your wife might find some solace in the fact that there are no old, unsafe airplanes.

There are old pilots, and there are bold pilots. . . there are no old bold pilots!

A superior pilot is one who stays out of trouble by using superior judgement to avoid situations which might require the use of superior skill. .

Very true statement but then again SH** HAPPENS IT'S A FACT OF LIFE. It may sound bold but I have never let the thought of death stop me from doing what I wanted IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN SOMEDAY

'Big, I don't work for Boeing... I fly their aircraft. In my opinion, Bob Hoover is one of the all time great drivers. I once had a chance to talk with him @ LBG while he was pre-flighting his '51. He had some great stories.

I was at Reno and bought the book The Right Stuff. On the way back to my seat on the tarmac stoped to get a BBQ sandwich (they have been there for every race that I have been to ) I was standing in line and looking at my book. I looked at two guy's in line and noticed who they were they had their hat's on low Bob Hoover in his famous straw hat and sunglasses and Chuck Yager with a ball cap and sunglasses. I walked over and said could you sign my book they said no. I said well if you dont then I will start screaming your name's and youll never get you BBQ. Chuck Yager signed it to the biggest blackmailing A** hole in the world. and Bob signed it Ill second that. PIRCELESS :-laf
