$108. 78 from MoParPart.com.

$5. 00 From U Pick A Part.

Other than $103. 78 + $11. 97 Shipping the difference is as follows.

I couldn't find one for my truck at the yard all the doors for 2nd gen P/Us were either gone or missing the lock assy. So, I took a dollar bill placed it over the fasteners from a 98 Caravan and poked holes in the bill, then went to once of the 2nd gen trucks that had the door but was missing the lock and the holes matched Oo. The 93 and under mini vans and trucks are different they have a separate motor for the e-lock and won't work.

So, I get home and remove the one from my truck and it was, shall we say a bit different. I plugged it into the electrical socket, the motor and mechanism worked fine, but some of the rod connections were different.

The front & back metal plates and a few of the levers that attach to rods for key lock and door latch differ. I've posted pictures below, The one that says "mine" is from my 99 the one that says "old" is from the Caravan. You can see the differences I'm talking about. In the following pictures look close and you can see the difference in the internal parts if you look closely. One thing you can't really tell is there are sleeves that go thru the plastic part of the mechanism so when you tighten it to the door you don't crush the plastic, you can barely see them if you look close, they're anodized yellow. The differences in the sleeves are the ones from the mini van are longer than the ones for the truck. The mini van plate that faces the jam of the door where you bolt it to the door is flat, the plate for the truck is tapered at the fastener head as the metal on the jam of the door is tapered as well. The screws likewise have a tapered head on the truck and integral flat washer for the mini van.

When you take the one plate off it's pretty straight forward, however, when you take the plate that faces the jam off there are two springs that want to spring out. Just take it off slowly and make sure you notice where the springs sit once the place is all the way off. A tip, take both apart and use two areas so when you swap parts from truck old to new mini van mechanism you don't mix things up. Also, once you get them both apart drive out the sleeves from the truck mechanism and replace the ones in the mini van mechanism.

Finally, my door lock works againOo. I looked for well over a year in various salvage yards for the right one and just couldn't find it. I'm just too stubborn to spend $100 for a piece like this if I can figure a way around it:-laf

Figured I'd share just incase I'm not the only stubborn one in the world.

Enjoy!

I just replaced my Lt side ft door. $150. from the dealer. Difficult getting it out, went back together rather easy.

Stinks having to pay that much #@$%!

Next time you need something that's a "dealer only item" try this site first:

Mopar Parts - Genuine OEM Dodge Parts, Chrysler Parts and Jeep Parts at Wholesale Prices - MoparPart.com or

Mopar Parts or

Dodge Parts & Accessories Catalog

I've mainly used moparpart.com, but the others are there and worth a try.

At least now we can both lock the door with the key fob again. :)
