Lift pump question

I need to replace my lift pump,I have 103K miles on the original and my gauge shows I only have 2-4 lbs running down the road,I'm also having starting issues in the winter. (hope this fixes it) FASS and AirDog have pumps with 1 or 2 filters and I'm wondering if its worth the money to buy the model with 2 filters? I will remove the OEM pump and keep the stock filter,I'll also upgrade the aftermarket pump with a 2 micron filter as well. Trying to stretch my money and with shipping costs to Alaska,its cheaper to buy the lift pump with filter(s),rather then going with a Raptor and adding a filter kit. Hope I've made sense and not confused anyone.

I added the AD100 with 2 filters. I wish I had the time to do it with the parts that im going to put up. The reason is better filters than you can get for the AD100. Make sure but im almost positive that you can add the Cat 2 mic filter to these heads and the Baldwin F/W separator and have the best all in 1 nice package. All from Glacier Diesel. Ask their cust. sirv for any help they are one of the good one's to deal with.

i did the air dog with dual filters, into factory filter, then to the GDP filter then to cp3

the air dog kit has the fitting to go straight into the factory filter, or strait to the cp3

i have the adjustable psi pump as well

I believe that some of the systems put the fuel/water separator filter before the pump, this makes it easier to separate out the water before the pump creates an emulsion (stirs the fuel & water together). On the other hand, that means that this filter runs under vacuum and any air leaks create problems. The second, fine filter always goes after the pump.

My preference is to leave the stock filter in place as a backup. It also protects against anything going wrong (dirt in the lines) when you install the aftermarket system.

On my AD100 with 2 of the best filters on it I still wanted better so it sounds excessive but from the fuel tank to the pump I put in a Baldwin F/S then to the AD100 thru its filters then to the stock filter and then to a Cat 2 mic. Still plenty of pressure and MORE THAN ENOUGH filtration. Like I said I wish I had time to do it another way like above but I was down and needed the truck and the AD100 was fast, Do a search on fuel filtration youll find allot of info. BIG

Thanks for all the replies,been real busy and haven't had time to thank everyone. I've been checking out all the threads and links about lift pumps/filtration and what not. I realize one needs all the filtration you can get,just wondering if spending an extra $75-$100 on the AirDog/FASS systems with dual filters is worth the extra $$$ or get the AirDog/FASS pump without filters and pick up a stand alone dual filter system like Cat or XX-Fuel has?

Is anyone running BD's FlowmaX lift pump? I can have one delivered for $400 and have been real happy with my BD valve body plus sales and tech support have been great.

Wow, $400 for a pump!? That must be some pump!

You could always go with a Holley Blue, if it'll meet your flow requirements (110 gph). Around $120.

I have FASS on both my trucks, and have installed a few dozen others on customers trucks. None of us are unhappy with the purchase of FASS. Not NOT cheap but good stuff. .

The situation I had with my Dog II was heating fuel BEFORE the the pump and filter unit. Mounted on the frame, just aft of the drivers side door. AirDog makes no provision for heat... ... but I understand Fass has a model with heat. ' 98 12V I tried plumbing the fuel line to the OEM heater, but not being made to take the 25 psi fuel pressure, the sensor leaked. So I mounted it to the Dogs suction side( no pressure only draw from tank) with a nipple and lenghtened the wiring. anywayz... ... gotta have heat before the filters so they don't wax and clog!

I am. I installed one on my '06 about a month ago. Stocker was reading 2-3 psi so I figured it was time. Ordered the Flowmax and got it 2 days later. Install was simple, the instructions were spot on. I installed the pump in a couple hours in the parking lot of my apartment building with basic hand tools. Gauge now reads around 13 psi. So far, I'm very happy with my purchase. I also have other BD products and am very happy with them as well. They've been a great company to deal with.

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions. I went ahead and ordered the AirDog,they offered free shipping. Its rare a business offers free shipping to Alaska,so I jumped on the offer. I was leaning toward the FASS,but couldn't find shipping for less then $60. I'm not too worried about heating the fuel up,this is since this is my last winter up here,but I will run the AD through the OEM heater.
