Hey, have a question for you all. My tach is acting all wacky. It sits at 200 RPM's at idle sometimes, sometimes it sits at 750. Then, driving down the road, it will sit at 2200 at 70, then jump up to 3000? I am sure it is something like a tach sensor, but I truly have no idea. The truck runs excellent, just annoying when the tach jumps all around on me. Scotty

Fairly common problem on the 06. New cluster is in order. There's some good reading here on the subject. Start with the simplest, cheapest stuff first though.

Okay, I was thinking it was a sensor. . If it is the whole instrument cluster, I imagine I could live with it a little longer. That has to be expensive. Where would I start to diagnose it? Scotty

The problem with them is poor solder joints and if your handy with an iron, you can rework all the joints and fix it.

I think there is also a thread or two on here that reference a company you can send it to for repair. I can't remember the name of the company but mine is acting a little funny as well (just reading low at idle, not jumping around) and I read up on it here.
