Sorry guys been off the site for awhile. I will put together a update soon. Laptop is in the shop. <!-- google_ad_section_end --> <!-- / message --><!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_sig --><!-- END TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_sig --><!-- sig -->

Did you have a chance to put together an update yet?

Just curious...

I second the ride of the KORE kits. I don't care what their salesman says. We have 2 dodge Cummins that we chase and prerun with one has the top Kore Kit (I think it's called unlimited) and the other has a cheap Skyjacker kit with double front shocks. I am not usually a fan of Skyjacker but it has been flawless for 140,000 miles not counting replacing the shocks. I definately would like to upgrade to the Fox shocks on it. The Kore kit beats the crap out of us and has had to be overhauled 3 times in the last 2 years. The springs are so stiff we have actually had the suspension mounts crack. The heims failed as well. I guess we must not know how to drive off road good enough to use a KORE system properly but with Baja 1000, Baja 2000 and Mint 400 podium finishes under our belts I figured we would qualify.

!!! You prerun with a skyjacker suspension kit? Wow! That's impressive!

Put up a few pictures of your trucks if you don't mind.

Both trucks have been thoroughly tested both on and off road and towing. Towing should not be done with the Kore kit he has in my opinion. We have done it but it is not safe at all.

The white truck is not mine but I have driven and worked on it plenty. And yes I have prerun with the red one plenty. I was not doing 100mph prerunning but not doing 15mph either. I can keep up with him until my shocks start to fade and then mine is too hard to control. When the shocks are fresh I can stay on his ***** hence the reason I want to go with the FOX reservoirs. I have had it a few feet off of the ground at 45-50mph a few times and nothing broke or bent. I don't do it intentionally but it weights in at 9640# and is a little hard to shut down in the dirt when Icome up on a bad spot in a track I have never been on.

What part was unsafe to tow with. Most people claim that the Kore stuff is too stiff. Why would this cause issues towing? I am currently running Kore Alpha series coils with Carli valved Bilstein 7100 and Carli mini packs. I really like to road ride. Towing works really well. I tow varying loads on a semi regular basis. For what it is the system works pretty well in the dirt. A little bouncy but not that bad. I know what you mean about hitting stuff unexpected, that is why I trussed the front end and run Thurens DYSKO bump stops.

Haha ya I bet, you gonna be able to make Glamis or perhaps a Baja trip next year? I really really want to get back down there, finally have the truck set so dont have an excuse.

The truck is unstable and allows the trailer to get into a sway that is quickly magnified by the suspension. I put the same trailer loaded the same way on my truck and it tows fine. The last time we hooked the race car trailer up to his to tow it to tech I thought we were going to lose the trailer and possibly roll the truck.

Thanks for the feed back. Sounds like Kore is stiffen the front and pretty soft in the back. I imagine this works pretty well on a race truck. I have not ridden in a full Kore truck. A few months ago I went for short rides in a few different trucks. A carli 2. 65, Lorenz 2. 5, Thuren with bypass in the rear. The carli truck felt like a sports car. Thuren truck was soft and smooth also had some C bias ply tires. The Lorenz truck was fine on the road but really firm on the high speed speed bumps. They were all CTDs. I would like to go for a ride in a Carli 3. 0 Dominator truck. I was pretty blown away at what the Carli bolt on radius arms with 3. 0 kings did down in Baja. Alex,s short arm Carli Dominator was pretty bad *** as well. Granted they were sporting hydro bumps.

Last year at the Baja 1000 we ran into a guy from Canada down in Gonzaga Bay that had a truck almost Identical to ours but with Carli instead of KORE. Turned out he used to be a KORE distributor and was unhappy with a few things and switched to being a Carli distributer. He told us if we wanted to fix the harshness of our truck off-road that we needed to junk the KORE front coils and replace them with Carli coils and keep everything else.

I think if you want a daily driver with the ability to go out and hit the course with a little speed every once and a while you need to go with hydro bumps. Then you can have nice soft valving for the small hits and potholes and still not bottom out on the occasional hard hit.

For sure... but ACVs are supposed to help out ALOT with this as well. The valving ramps up with shaft velocity.

I plan on sending my 2. 65s in for the latest valving and ACV upgrade within the next few months.

There is some video from Baja of trucks coming down a kinda rocky section. The video shows my truck bouncing slowly along followed by a Carli Dominator truck. The second truck is so smooth, instead of the body bouncing around just the axles are moving. Kinda neat to see the comparison. Full leafs have a lot to do with this over mini packs. From what I hear the Carli full leaves still work pretty well in the work/tow truck department.

Mine work great. When I had the Lorenz full leaves, I always had to leave the engagement "pucks" for the reverse leaves installed. I even cut them long, and jacked up the rear of the truck to get them installed. This setup worked pretty well for light towing. With heavier towing running 37" tires, the tire made contact with the front of the rear fender... somewhat severe at times. This is because the leaves retained the stock centering pin location, rather than being shifted like the Carli's to allow for full clearance with 37s. Both Carli's and Lorenz worked great for towing, especially with the LT Caril bags... although I think the towing capabilities of the Carlis may be a little better than the Lorenz, at least for the reverse pack design leaves I was running.

I disagree with that, I have Thurens Dysko bumps and they work great, Hydros are great for big hits but can limit articulation, I have drove my mega with Dyskos much harder then I should have with out a truss and finally put a slight bend in the axle but that involved a good 20" under the tire. Not saying Hydros aren't a good option but they do have there drawbacks and aren't for everyone. Either way if you want to hit anything with speed you really need a truss, these AAM's dont hold up well to big hits.
