Interior Light Question

Are the interior lights that come on when a door is opened on a separate fuse for when the door is opened versus when they are manually turned on?



One of the guys here has a 2011 and said his interior lights came on and went off when he opened his door this morning. He said he can click on the overhead lights and they come on. He tried the rear door and that didn't cause the lights to come on either. The only way they will come on is to manually turn them on.

The problem is fixed. After three starts, the problem corrected itself.



I did check his fuses and there are two for interior lights, M15 and M20. That wasn't the problem. Must have been the computer.

I could be wrong, but IIRC the interior lamp does NOT come on with the doors if the dash dimmer is set to absolute minimum.

You are correct. It's call the Party Setting so you can have the doors open for extended settings.



We were able to duplicate this yesterday. What happened was that he was shutting down the engine as he opened his driver side door. The engine shake caused the light to go on and off quickly and then go out. It stopped the interior lights from coming on when the door was opened. It must be a TIPM thing that senses the rapid on/off and it doesn't like it.



So when you are opening the door, either have the engine on or off but not in the process of shutting down where you get that shake from the engine.



I haven't seen him this morning but it was working fine yesterday when he left.
