Sorry cant help you with first gen, But just put a set on my 08 3500 3 gen... and i love them... the bumps are nice and soft now..... no more sharp pumps. .

because he asked about how they work on the first gen forum..... my response was just a data point for him that they do work if they did happen to make them for 1st gens.

So why is this posted on the First Gen forum???

He asked "anyone use them on a first gen"... hence why it's here?

I haven't used sulastics but I have used the bfg aerospace velvet ride shackles on a first gen before. The took out the initial spike u feel with leafs that are meant for hauling.

Thanks,

I posted up the sulastics because they are current production and wanted to get an idea if they worked.

The Velvet Rides are still obtainable for first gens but hard to find. I have a line on a set and just wanted to know if they worked or were a gimmick.

Yes, unloaded on gravel roads with dips and around my farm property off road it is bone jarring in the back. Maybe if I slowed down a bit... ... On the road I do not notice it that much. Loaded, zero issue.

If you don't mind some fab work, the Monster rear suspension is a relatively cheap upgrade that has fantastic results. I think I found my springs used for ~ $200 for the pair. Look under a thread called "Improving the Ride".

Or if you have a local u-pull, they are DIRT cheap. I think I pay ~30-35$ per pair. And the stock 2wd 1500 springs will net about 3" of lift with the monster plans. You can run a 2" shorter shackle and get away with a 2" lift, or even move the front hangers up on the frame 2" as well and have stock/1" over stock.

The springs you want are 88-98, but I think its 92-98 ideally (the 92+ have plastic friction reducers at the ends of the leafs).
