I've always had good eyesight and when told I could have a cataract operation for my both eyes I wondered how my eyesight could be improved, at around 45 years of age needed glasses for reading but regular vision was OK. Being 85 years old and in good health decided to have the operation when I really didn't need it, (fix something before it happens). Operation went well, they did the weakest first, Doctor spoke all the time of the operation giving an account of what he was doing. (quite interesting). Very through regarding pre-preparation, and post operation, time and number of drops in eye, red tops, grey tops, white tops and tan, colors of the eye drops bottle cap. Kept it up for 6 weeks, then the other eye operated on. Any discomfort I found moderate, able to get about normally and sleep undisturbed. Just recently have been able to contact some men I served with in a British Infantry Battalion 1946-47 in India and still living in Britain some had cataracts removed, seems today its quite common. I would say that my sight remains the same, I still use reading glasses for reading a newspaper, but for the computer screen never needed glasses to read regardless of size of print. The glasses I used pre-operation are of no use now, so a slight vision change, but I fail to notice it.
