Best sounding exhaust muffler?

I was wondering form all of you performance guys out there what exhaust is preferred for a cummins 5. 9L?

Leave cat in place and remove muffler.



Cheap, sounds great and no highway drone.

Kinda like asking what the best color is... Go on YouTube and type in Cummins Muffler and take a listen.

Several people seem to like the Hushpower muffler, you might also look at the Corsa exhaust. The youtube suggestion is a good one, some manufacturers have recordings on their websites as well.

I've heard the Donaldson may be more quiet than stock at higher speeds but overall I have to agree with you. And from what I've heard the straight piped Cummins is hideous - just sounds like a big ricer to me but thats just my . 02.

I'e got The Banks Dual kit. Muffler allows for a nice deep rumble at low Rpm's and seems to quiet down at higher Rpm's. I just wouldn't waste my money on the dual kit again. the tips are welded on and don't stick far enough past the bumper. I've been tempted to cut them off and get diff tips but if I'm gonna get under the truck and with tools I'll just change the tailpipe to a single... . I installed a MRBR(?) kit on my friend's truck it's much much louder than the banks but the stainless pipes are still in much nicer shape than my banks.

I now have a single stack and tried it with no cat or muffler with 4" exhaust.

On the highway I couldn't here the radio, my cell phone or my wife talking so I put a Magnflow (I think 20") on and it sounds great to me. Still can't hear my wife but that my be selective hearing.

Magnaflow is great, 4" straight thru exhaust, no back pressure at all.

All great information thanks. Suncoast convertors is just down the road from me. I spoke to one of the guys who works there and he suggested that I bring the truck in sometime. So I think im going to check in with these guys. ill post what I find out. Please feel free to continue this conversation.
