The morning started off with arrivals at Mopar HQ and were greeted by a Drag Pack Challenger, as well as the JK-8 Independence kit for the Jeep Wranglers. The Drag Pack Challenger is a factory built car for the drag strip, and the JK-8 is a kit available through Mopar that will turn your Jeep Wrangler into a pickup!

Once inside, there was a fantastic display put together of a few significant vehicle from Mopar history. Some of those included a 1955 Chrysler 300, a 1969 Dodge Daytona, 1978 Little Red Express Truck, 1964 Max Wedge Fury, 1965 Altered Wheelbase A-990, and even a 1968 Super Stock Dart with none other than Big Daddy Don Garlits standing beside it!

The presentation started with Mopar CEO Pietro Gorlier taking the stage.

Pietro covered some of the highlights of Mopar's history, as well as presenting the current scope of Mopar. With Fiat and Mopar today, they have more than 70 million vehicles on the road. The Mopar brand itself is:



In 120 countries

Has more than 500,000 parts and accessories

Has 45 commercial offices

20 customer care call centers

50 parts distribution centers that cover over 19 million sq/ft

Has over 11,000 ship to locations

Has over 350,000 order lines daily.



Mopar has also touched the lives of over 400 Mopar clubs, and over 140,000 Facebook Fans.



These numbers give a great idea of the magnitude of the Mopar brand.



As part of the 75th celebration, Mopar released four new special edition vehicles. They are:

Jeep Compass True North



The fantastic feature of this special edition model include a 2” lift kit, 16” BF Goodrich tires, blacked out body components, brush bars, skid plates; as well as an interior with Neoprean material, inclinometer for measuring pitch and roll, cargo mat, and lastly a Kicker stereo system for the ultimate in off roading tunes.

Fiat 500 Stinger



The 500 Stinger is a sports car version placed between the base 500 and the Abarth. It is available in two stages: An appearance package (Stage 1) as well as a performance package (Stage 2). The appearance package gives an aggressive trim treatment to the front end, circular style projector headlamps, side and roof graphics in hundreds of different styles, blacked out body components, 17”x 7 wheels with black centers, and wider tires. For the interior, it is a custom black and yellow Katskin interior with carbon fiber dash.



For the Stage 2 Stinger package, you will find a cold air intake under the hood as well as a cat back exhaust system and cross body bar. Also included are cross drilled rotors for better braking performance.

Dodge Dart GTS 210 Tribute





Even though the Dart is brand new, Mopar has already created a performance model. The model features carbon fiber hood with NACA duct, blacked out body components, decklid spoiler, rear diffuser, and 18” forged wheels. For the interior, it is a Katskin leather and suede.



For the performance side, it is a 2. 4L Multi-air Tigershark motor putting out 184 HP. Add to that the dual catback exhaust, intake, and performance calibration bringing engine power up to 210HP. For braking, the 210 features cross drilled rotors and for suspension, a 1” lowering coilover kit.

Chrysler 300 Mopar 12





The 300 Mopar 12 features the same look as the Challenger 10 and Charger 11. Starting with a 300S, Mopar added blacked out body components, Mopar blue pin striping on hood and vehicle sides, 75th Anniversary logos, 20” Mopar gloss black wheels. For the interior you get Katskin black with blue sticking leather seats, unique to Mopar 12 Mopar logo shifter, and limited edition serial number on a dash badge. The 8. 4” LCD screen has also been customized with Mopar logo at vehicle startup.





For power, the Mopar 12 feature the 5. 7 ltr Hemi with 5 speed auto with paddle shifter. 0-60 is now in the low 5 second range thanks to a 3. 91 ratio rear end taken from the Challengers and adding a special calibration. Brakes were also enhanced to handle the extra speed.



The Mopar 12 also comes with a personalization kit.

With the introduction of the vehicles coming to a close, Mopar introduced their vision for dealers of the future. Set up behind closed doors was a dealer type display of what Mopar envisions the future of Mopar dealers will look like. Included in the dealer was merchandize displays, apparel, special customized vehicles on display (including the Charger Redline, Blue Crush Jeep, Ram Runner, and a Drag Pack Challenger), and Media bar with information for new vehicle owners (covering things like towing capacity, maintenance schedules, and setting up interior options).

Thanks ever so much for the pictures. Hope to get up there this summer or next. A few years ago, before I got on TDR, I took the tour and did the car show at the Dodge family mansion and sincerely enjoyed both. Thanks again.

I'm curious about the new drag car. Did you pickup on any eng. and drive train specs? How about 1/4 mile performance? Also, is this a turn-key factory race car that they will be selling, like in the old yesteryear days?
I saw the one picture with front tires in the air. Looks pretty impressive!
I'll never forget the first Dodge and Plymouth drag cars Chrysler started building and selling back in the early 1960s. They had no radio/heater, insulation or backseat, to shed weight. What they did have was a 413C. I. wedge head eng. , 13-1/2 to one compression, with two staggered four barrel carbs, factory headers, 3-speed automatic trans. (With a push-button shifter on the dash. ) and a 4. 56 limited slip rear-end. They even had a red factory sticker on the dash that said "CAUTION- THIS IS A HIGH PERFORMANCE CAR"!
They were built specifically to beat the factory hot rod 409 Chevys and the 406 Fords which were similarly equipped factory cars, except they all had 4-speed stick trannys, not automatics. That was a very big deal in that era. It was the first factory automatic transmission that was actually tough enough for drag racing, and it started a whole new trend. In a relatively short time, the Mopar cars were the ones to beat.
I remember all that almost like it was yesterday.

Almost everything is included from the factory and they are able to run in the 11s out of the box and can get much lower when tweaked.



Drivetrain comes in a few diffferent options. The one you see hanging on the hoist is one of the 512 CI Viper V10 motors putting out 800 HP connected to a 2 speed race transmission. Also available is a 360/5. 9, 5. 7, and 6. 1 ltr. Also options are manual or auto.



For about $85,000, you can have a fully factory prepped race car.
