My sig truck runs most of the time with the edge ez on 2 and Smarty tnt on sw 8. Timing 2 , wg off, tq 3, timing 2, rp 2. I modified my air box with apiece of 4 inch flex that runs Don behind the front bumper for increased air intake and I run the 4" pleat wix filter. : im aware of the fact that until you get over 450 hp the stock airbox is sufficient but ive ne er dynoed my ttuck so i dont know exactlt where i am on hp. So My question is, based on my current mods would I see any benefit by putting on a cold air intake versus my current setup and if so what kind?

No clue. Have you ever done a series of 0-60s or 1/4 mile runs? My truck runs mid to high 13s in the 1/4 mile and according to an app on my iPhone, I am around 460-480 at the rear wheels. I haven't been on a dyno, either.

If your stock CP3 can support sw8(tnt), you are probably close to 500 ponies. But I still do not believe an aftermarket air intake system will do much other than noise, unless you purchase a S&B, they have an enclosed airbox similar to stock.

To be honest, I originally did mine for the noise/turbo whistle...

Unless your driving with your foot on the floor all the time, you will never approach the max HP. For all intents and purposes, you won't have a problem in daily driving.

people who think they are running a certain H. P... . the key word is think... you can subtract about 50 h. p from there number... . I know a dyno man who can tell you 99% of his customers way overshoot what they think there motor is doing... and when he breaks the news to them... they get upset at the real numbers... ... ... ... ... .

Just in case you are referring to me, the iPhone app I have has been consistently reported to be extremely accurate from people all over the country comparing it to stationary dyno.

But yes, I would agree with your statement that everybody guesses their number way too high. I've seen it on motorcycles firsthand, spending well over five years modifying and racing them. Some dyno operators tweak the correction factor just so they don't have to deal with ticked off customers.

Considering my truck's 0-60 time dropped one full second after adding the second turbo and switching from smarty Jr to Sr, I think my numbers are close.

It was a generalized statement about dynos and what people think they have in h. p..... even crate motors from gm and ford #s are inflated to what real world numbers are... ..... liars... . and all that stuff you see on t. v on those hot rod shows... . they pay big money for those host to tell you that there stuff is the best and nothing is better... .

MChrist, everything I have heard about the iphone app has been positive as far as accuracy.

My guessing TLC's hp is based on my own experience. TLC's is stacking EZ/Smarty, when my truck was stock, EZ 2,TST 5/2 got me 490hp, EZ 2, Smarty411 sw9 gave me 494hp same dyno, different day...

If TLC's stock CP3 can support sw8 tnt (which I doubt), stacking with EZ, I have no doubt his 06 can be (if he loads sw5/6) very close to 500hp, as the 04. 5+ years made hp up to 500 much easier than 03/04's.

Reading gg75's post, sounds like a tavern conversation... been there myself more than once, my point being MChist, do not take it personally.

JJ, 490 hp with the stock turbo?? That's pretty impressive. Is that normal? I thought 400ish was near the limit. Because of my smallish twins, I run 48 psi and have almost zero smoke after a second or two.

Yes, stock turbo(341), I didn't say it wasn't hot. Shortly after I put a HE351 on but did not dyno, then I stuck on an SPS62 and re-dynoed(Shelly's Dynojet), 495ish, could not break 500hp, this was Smarty 411, EZ2. The larger turbo helped with lowering high egt's, did not really help with horsepower.

Installed F1. 2's, 555hp(Davis Diesel's Dynojet) YAHOO!

Tomeygun actually did 526hp with a stock 03, TST/EZ stack, made a video here on TDR. I tried to find, but my search was not successful. On 2nd thought, he may have had F1's and a Sledpuller, not sure, taxing my memory.

IIRC, and my memory is getting short that far back, he had to go with nozzles to break 500 HP. Of course, that was before the modified pumps and other parts were readily available. Just usinng the boxes to add fuel and taxing the CP-3. I think he had a better turbo also.

I am pretty certain he did have a Sledpuller 66, but am still thinking he had stock sticks when he did that, but I could be wrong. He also had an 03 twins program that would fuel hard down low regardless of boost, or so he claimed.

I guess the OP is probably wondering how his Thread got hijacked so brazenly:-laf, Sorry!

Or maybe the 526 was the ceiling with stock nozzles. Either way I remember right around 500 was the limit until nozzles were needed.

Yeah, derail over. :-laf

now I know how the 2nd gen crowd felt when 2003's jumped on a dyno with only turbo and TST and cracked 500++

These 6. 7L's are looking to be all that and a bag of chips

EDIT -- whoops, I lied - it was with my current sledpuller66. . darn it
