Guns, Bows, Shooting Sports, and Hunting 10mm Ammo

Anyone shooting any of the "real" 10mm ammo's?



Cor-Bon, Buffalo Bore, etc?



I am looking at putting Buffalo Bore 220 Hard Cast in my G20 and Cor-Bon 180 BCSP's in my G29 for my wife.



Any experience?

I don't know about those brands. I load my own hunting and practice ammo and use Federal Hydra-Shock in my g29 carry gun. I would think that the Buffalo Bore would be fine on game, but a guaranteed soot through on a 2 legged varmint. Same goes for the Corbon. I haven't shot their 10 mike mike but have shot other calibers and it is plenty stout. Forget quick follow up shots in the g29.

10mm is a great ctg. The full house loads are hard to come by anymore.

It's not my 2 legged gun, I have . 40's and . 45's for that. It's the woods gun.



What FPS are you getting with your hand load hydrashoks?

Sorry if I wasn't clear. I do not handload HydraShoks. I use factory HS for my carry gun (G29). I handload practice ammo to same specs.



To be honest, it has been awhile since I loaded any 10mm (I load thousands at a time) and don't recall what FPS I loaded to. If I can find the info, I'll post it.

I have carried HS for years, but just recently realized how watered down they are, it made me quite mad actually. A G23 has 94% of the energy and 3 more rounds, and is smaller.

The HS is still probably a good 2 legged round, but it's not really a 10mm, more like a 40+P.

Which is exactly how the . 40 came to be. Most people wouldn't shoot full 10mm, so it was downloaded. Some genius decided that it could be put into a shorter case, and therefore into a smaller gun. Viola, the . 40 S&W. Just the opposite progression of the . 38/. 357 magnum.



I mentioned using the HS as a carry round because you said that your wife would be using the G29. I don't know your wife, but I assumed, like most women, she would be dis-inclined to shoot full house 10mm out of the smaller gun. Full house can be a handful in the G20, for many.

The issue is buying current 10mm ammo from most mfgr's is like buying . 357 with a . 38 SPL load in it, but paying for . 357. I have a 10mm and want real 10mm ammo, not retarded expensive 40 ammo. The HS in a 10mm was a waste of cash, and makes the benefits of the 10mm useless. If I wanted another 40 I would have bought it. A 10mm was designed to push at 200 gr bullet at 1200, not a 180 at 1030!

She shoots the G29 pretty well, were going to try some real 10mm loads and see how she does.

I also don't want to carry HS as a woods round, it won't have the penetration needed on large game at close range.

Yeah too much for too many to qualify with, and a lot of collateral damage. Neither of which I am worried about in an "oh-$#!^" scenario! Recoil isn't noticed and it's probably not going to come out the back of a bear!

These are my woods guns, I have other calibers more appropriate for home/self defense.
