Shoot, I figured it was -15*C up there, with 10' of snow everywhere... ... but SRay said it's not..... he's HOPING for some snow... . ya'll must be crazy 's all I can figure!!!! Too much work when it snows here!! No one can drive but us backwoods boys..... but we do make a killing pulling people out of ditches... .



HOLY COW!!?!?!?!?!?!? I just looked up Big Falls, MN weather forecast, and their calling for the high to be 5*F!! Oh, HELL NO!!! Wear your shorts in that, big boy!!! I'm betting you're in your shop tonight!!! I'd have already flown South months ago!!! YIKES!! I like to play in the snow, but not when the overnight low is -15*!!! :-laf

Yeah, cold and snow here for tomorrow too. And I gotta go pick up my buddies 68 Polara station wagon he just got! Arg. Not a drop of snow in weeks and then we go to get it..... Arg.



No this year we have been lucky. Mostly 30s and 40s and almost no snow all winter. .

If it makes you feel any better, we're getting snow here, tonight..... of course, it's melting almost as fast as it's falling... . I'm sure the bridges will be weasal snotted, but I don't think I'll be going anywhere tonight... . I'm thinking I'm gonna put new fuel line on my '84 and be putting the front locker in it tomorrow, re-silicone the upper cab supports and windshield, and try to make her fall apart... like I have for the last 20 years. Darn 318 just won't die!!! :-laf In hot weather, it uses so much oil, you'd think it's a two-cycle!!! It'll be fun on the ice tomorrow... . then the mud that will follow the melting after lunch!!

Yeah, washed truck and hosed it all off. Then parked it inside to thaw out as it was -8 F out and the doors were frozen shut by the time I got home.

I hope you found the change in his pocket!!! Man, that sucks. I see Northern trucks every now and then, and wonder just how can they let those things die of rust like that? I guess it's just a fact of life..... I'd have to build something out of stainless or something! All that work, and in less then ten years, it's gone!! Apparently, you can wash 'em good and keep 'em from rusting too bad? You've kept yours looking good... .



Joys?!?! The only joy I think I'd find up there would be when it got really hot. Like something involving myself, a gorgeous female, and a large wool sock... ... next to a nice fire in the fireplace..... and a home grocery delivery..... and HD cable... ... .



uhhhhhh, where were we? Oh, yeah, the cold. It was cold as heck here. Standing in 2" of water, with my wet coveralls on, while it was 32*F outside, welding in the rain. The only time I really got warm was when I changed rods and got a "shocking" surprise... . my gloves were a little wet, too, apparently. N***TY..... But my shelves are up, and all my used tires are off the ground. Picked up the trash, moved a bunch of spare rims, and just need it to dry up so I can haul some gravel in. It's so muddy right now, my skidsteer will barely bring itself out of the barn, let alone with a bucket of rock!!!

Lol. No. I found the change under the truck seats, in the console, pockets... . he is a good friend. What goes around comes around so I washed it myself.

Now as for keeping rust out, a few things you can do.

1- min 1x a week wash it. If it gets weasel snot on it before the week is up, wash it again.

2- oil spray the underside. Oil repels moisture. Does wonders although not perfect.

3- I find parking indoors makes a difference as any buildup of salt and snow falls off so it does not sit there constantly attacking. I am fortunate I can park indoors, many can't. But the original owner did that, as I have continued.

4- try not to drive much in the winter.

That's what I am workin on for next year. Issue is I will only drive a dodge and I have yet to find one I don't like.

You could always move to the west coast of CA, OR or WA - no salt and nature washes your truck almost daily for 9 months of the year at least in OR & WA. The other 3 months the weather is usually quite enjoyable - warm with low humidity. The major draw back is the fact that the larger cities such as Portland OR, Vancouver WA and Seattle WA are just northen suburbs of San Francisco.

Uhhhmmmmmnnnnnn... ... no. I live wayyyy to close to Dall***/Ft. Worth as it is... . 9th largest Metropolitan area in the US..... great for getting parts, not so great for cost of living and price of land..... seems the average person's IQ gets lower every day in this area... ... .

Winter driver? Not sure. May pick up something like a rougher Ramcharger or a Ram... . Not sure I would go diesel as the dang block takes too long to warm up to my standards before I can drive.

Meeeeeeooooooooowwww.Finished up the '01 transmission reman last night, fixed DW in an '03 in between on the front steps..... had to put a tie rod and tracking bar bushing in. Then mounted 4 tires on a '96 with 4 wheel ABS..... pretty neat ordered truck from Alaska. It's got blowby at around 185K!! How strange! 4:10 gears, I guess..... we discussed rebuild options last night.....

Oh, well, ya know, the days are short, and I like to spend a little time with my family... . I hate to work too much..... Got me a wood trailer built today..... had the frame laying around. It was a work light trailer for a coal mine in OK, they said. It's got a 3500lb axle under it, around 10' long. I built up a 4x4x8'6" cage on it for hauling firewood. Perfect cord trailer!! No more arguing about how much wood is there!!!



Also got a driveway alarm installed at my mother's... . very important!! Got paid in cookies!!!!!! Oo.
