Just picked up new truck looking for suggestions for light modification best programmer. Have heard a little of the EGR delete is this something that can be done easily and will it void warranty?:)

I ordered it from Dave Smith Motors, Ed West , a great guy, I wanted it my way, love this truck, stock and staying that way, Ron

With all that power why do anything till warranty expires?:D

I recognize that's a choice each one of us are free to make, but I've towed a 5th wheel with a "bombed" truck for 9 years before we ordered and took delivery of our current truck. Although ours is just a 350/650, it handles our 5th wheel just fine, and with the cost and complexity of the current drivetrains, I'm really enjoying the peace of mind associated with knowing that if anything were to break (it never has) while we're on the road, it's just a matter of getting the truck to a Dodge dealer and letting them fix it - the onus is on them, not me. To me, at least, that's part of the benefit of having a new truck.

Well said! With this much power and factory engineering, why wreck a good thing? I'm all for improving the truck to suit your needs but why fix what ain't broke? I'm enjoying what I already paid for!

I too am jumping on this bandwagon. Picking up my new HO this Saturday. I tried a new HEMI 2500, but after owning it 3 days and towing with it, it just doesn't do the job they claim it will. I should have known better, I have owned Cummins for the past 15 years, but was trying to save $$ this time. Wasted my time... .

Does a leveling kit mess with warranty? A flow blown lift does right?

I think it is hit and miss with the dealers. Some will drop a claim for ball joints if the tires are not the stock size. The dealership I deal with have lift kits installed and 35" tires with a full warranty. On new trucks only.

I have a 3 week old ho with max-tow 4. 10. I honestly don't think a person would need more power than this truck has. You may could get a baby freightliner for really big loads but within reason they are very stout. This is my 4th Cummins.

Okie

I am seeing more 6. 7 head gaskets blown with deletes and programmers. If you modify it do it right... ... . wastegate it.

Bob4x4, it will handle 36 psi ok, will it not? I deleted because I did not want an engine full of soot when the warranty is out.

Like previous posts, I like my 2012 the way it is. I'd suggest driving it, get it broke in and see how you like it. The mods to my last truck cost me money, at least twice, once when I bought them and again to repair the results.

2012 st crew cab 4x4 max tow silver line x, 20 k reese, roll n lock, raptor 5'' stainless wheel to wheel nerf bars, going to tow 2012 Fuzion 412, 41' toy hauler, love it 2000 miles on it. I can't get compass to work or program, any suggestions ?

Been out of town and did not have computer acess- thanks for all the replies. I am not concerned with extra power; I was hoping to pick up some mileage by bypassing some of the polution settings. The 4:10's are giving me about 13. 2 on highway unloaded-I have not hauled the 5er yet, but I am concerned with the mileage. my 2003 HO with 6 spd and 3:73 used to run 22 unloaded and 13. 7 (hand calculated) pulling the 5er-this is really going backwords.

I hate to say the bad word, but after 3 previou dodge cummins that I loved, I am thinking of going back to a new FORD more pulling power with 3:73 than the dodge with 4:10 and better mileage - very discouraged!!

Hard to believe the HO and 4 wheel drive extract that much of a mileage penalty. My pore ole 350/650 4x2 in my signature gets 16-17 on the highway unloaded and 10. 2 pulling our 16K GVWR 5th wheel (13"2" tall, 102" wide) at 65 MPH on the interstate. That's about the same as my 2002 3500 4x2 HO/6-speed with 4. 10s, DD2 injectors and Edge EZ (347/762 @ rear wheels).

Rusty, thats good mileage for the size of your truck and especially the 5th wheel. I think you upgraded the tires and wheels to 17. 5's. Do you remember a mileage increase? I just made the switch and am hoping I will.....

Last week I hauled a load to Phoenix (22,340# gcw) and a return load of (18,500# gcw) and averaged 11. 82 mpg @ about 60mph. Both loads were smaller than your rig and almost no wind resistance. My '01 is simular to your '02 power levels.
