Bob,
I know what you mean about the lock plate tool, I have one. In fact, I may have the tools for the trunnions as well, at my other house, along with the FSM.
However, the column I have doesn't have a lock plate. The steering lock is internal in the upper yoke assy. The trunnion pins in mine are not threaded, as I seem to remember some of the older units were, and appear to be staked in place. I could tap the trunnion and then use a screw to jack them out, fab a slide hammer, etc. But the column is in good condition, and to further disassemble it just to (hopefully) find a P/N seems kind of counter productive. Especially since I intend to install it in my truck shortly.
Anyhow thanks for the helpful hints. That's what is great about the Forums. People offering suggestions and cautions often save others a lot of headaches and expense.

For those who were lost like me, here is the picture of what is being spoken of. Thnaks to the brothers for sending this pic to me in the first place!

BSchwarzli: It's just what this whole forum thing is all about. Helping each other any way we can. If it helps anyone here, then it is worthwhile. Thanks for posting this, for me, as I could not get it to post. Jim

Can you or anyone tell me how I post a picture of my 86/92 Retro to the forum and also to Photo Gallery & Reader's Rigs?

I did manage to get it posted in Photo Gallery, thanks to my IT (daughter).

The diagram posted above is for the older model column.

I'm trying to post scanned copies of the pages from the '92 FSM showing the '92 tilt column which I have. I pointed out the bearing location. Hope this is some help. Jack Dancoe

That would be nice whenever you have time. Would like to put a picture of my truck in my avitar also. I just don't know how to get the front-on picture from the photo gallery to the avitar. My daughter (my IT) figured out how to get them on the photo gallery.

Ok, Let's try this again

OK. To upload, go to Photo gallery off the menu at the top (drop down then select photo gallery. Then in the upper right select upload photos. Select the photo you want and upload.

To post it, go to the pick you want. Click on it and you will only see the photo you want plug a bunch of words (as in where you go if you want to see the picture larger than a thumbnail). Then look under the picture and it will say HTML code. It will look something like this:

img src="/webdata/photopost/data/504/medium/truck_wisteria_background.JPG" /

Click on it once. It will light up. Right click the now lit up words and select copy. Now go to the place you want the picture to be seen. Right click and select past. It will now appear like this.
