It's official, Fram has purchased Luber-Finer Filters.

I'm in hopes that Fram uses the facilities and knowledge that Luber-Finer has to improve the product line.

Mike. :)

luberfiner was owned by champion that makes a lot of low end filters also. but not as bad as the fram. champion left luberfiner division alone. did fram just buy luberfiner or did they buy both

Mike

On my Inter-trash-inoal I have 2 of the old luberfiner cartridge filters that are about 2 ft long ? and 8in around I kind of like them will I need to buy a supply for the truck or will they still be made by luberfiner?

All merged together now, Champion, Fram and Luber Finer.

Should have mentioned that above.

The rep was in Thursday and confirmed the combination of the three firms.

He said that Luber Finer had some nice production facilities that will continue to be utilized and that they may make more of their own air filters rather than source them out as most filter companies do.

You are all set, those elements for the Luber Finer are offered by all the heavy duty filter vendors.

No worries.....

CKelly thats one way to add oil amount to the system. What kind of oil Pressure do you have running that bad boy? Do you have it plumbed as a full flow or is it in with your bypass?

I knew what he meant, I should have called it a Luber Finer filter unit cartridge.

Everybody offers that cartridge, at least the common one.

There was another size back in the day that was a little smaller as I recall but I haven't laid eyes on one for a good 20 years.

it is a bypass filter you have to use a 0. 032" orifice to limit oil flow i can not use the 750 in most of my trucks because they take up to much room but on the 5th wheel hauler it was no problem and does look cool

Yet another product to put on my DO NOT USE list!!. .

I know what you are saying, lift the hood on my personal stuff and you will find Fleetguard filters on my CTD's and Mopar filters on the Town and Country's...

BUT, we sell pallets of the Fram filters every month and no issues. I mean not a peep.

I keep Fleetguard, Detroit Diesel, Cat and Thermo King filters here as well as the Frams and there are a few applications (Including the 5. 9) where we will recommend another brand of filter other than Fram.

But for the most part the Frams do fine.

Just an observation... ...

Im sure they do, but past personal experiences have me completely turned off to anything FRAM. Even when the opprtunity arises that I find myself looking at a used vehicle/equipment... If its got a Fram filter, I move on to the next unit!.

I am the same way about anything build, branded, or sold by GM. Not because of bailouts, but how they treated me on an unsafe brand new car back in the early 90's...

The MAC Tools guy just got put on this list as well...

That sucks! Luberfiner makes the EaBP-120 that Amsoil uses, but that's the next size up and I have nowhere to mount it on my 05.

My dad had a big Luberfiner cartridge bypass on the 3406C in his commercial fishing boat, it was an AWESOME filter. Some years ago Luberfiner quit making it, and it was a cross reference only filter from then on, and it may have worked as well on a UOA, but the oil looked nasty compared to the OEM filter.

Aren't these filters designed to be mounted vertically? Seems to me like the vibration going down the road and bumps would shake it apart internally.
