Looking for front diff cover recommendations.

It's for my dad's 06. He is adding hubs at the same time, so additional fluid isn't a big deal, mainly he just wants a drain.

Hoping there is a decent unit that is cheaper than the MH. The MH on the rear is great, but for the price is overkill for the front.

I have the Mag-Hytec on the front of my 08. I had to grind a little of the front cover to clear the Tie Road connection other wise it is great. I do not know of any other cover that fits the front diff. My son has one also on his 06 which has a two inch lift on it but he also had to grind clearance also.

Unless Mag hitek has redesigned the front cover it will not clear the up dated steering linkage. AFE was building one too. not sure if it has been released yet or not

I have the MH on my truck, and it is a great unit. I am just not sure the gain is worth the cost on the front.

The weld on plug is a good idea.

I have PML covers and they don't protrude as much as the Mag Hytec covers and are a little less expensive.

I have pics of them in my gallery. Maintenance is a breeze with the magnetic drain plug.

AH64ID. . I just don't think it pays, Unless Your Dads in 4X4 allot or off roads to the lake,I have seen the lube look good at 100K on front diff. Why not just take the cover off at 80/100k.

I put a PML on my truck. It was the least expensive one I could find. I like the fact that it uses the factory gasket. Clearance was also no problem. Mine just has the "as cast finish, so I put a clear-coat on it.

The fill plug is a pipe thread, and the drain plug is a metric thread and has a magnet.

The drain plug is at a sump, and all the factory bolt locations are utilized to prevent any leakage.

I am pleased with my choice.

I have a MH front cover sitting in my shop right now... I had originally installed it, then the truck had to go in to the stealership for the steering update... It would no longer clear without some minor trimming... I took the factory one to the dealership and just let them install it... I have been meaning to trim down the MH and install it again, but never have...

I like the added protection for the rear for towing, but the only reason I bought the front was so they would match...

I have the PML's on both ends. No issues what so ever on the front with clearance. I think it adds something like . 75 of a quart added capacity in the front. I used the PML on the back due to my using a Roadmaster sway bar back there and wasn't sure a MH would fit. I run the back diff at 2 quarts over the stock fill. Anyone else doing that? Any downsides to this? I still drop my fluid every 15,000 miles with a RedLine fill. I'm sure that is a whole nother discussion but it is my choice. Just my . 02

The MH rear almost doubles the oil capacity while maintaining the stock fill level. I HAVE squatted my truck on several occasions to where the spare tire almost hits the cover. (rear suspension completely on the stops)

Overload much :-laf

I had 7400 on my rear axle last week and wasnt that close.

hahah. . once or twice!! It wasnt a situation I really wanted to be in... F450 with an improperly loaded 38ft. GN that broke down in the middle of the highway... (another brother in law deal!!)

I told him if he could get the trailer off the truck, I could get it home for him... I never dreamed he would actually be able to get the trailer jacked up!!

Those BF Goodrich tires on the back of my truck were egg shaped all the way home!!.

For awhile after that little trip, there was a clean spot on my spare tire where the differential cover actually touched it when the bed/frame was torquing around as I made turns and hit bumps in the road. . Thank got it was a short trip, about 10 miles...
