2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Front Bumper Black Valance

Noticed my black valance/step panel sticking out a little on the passenger side. I crawled under the truck and found that it appears that 2 of the clips are missing. Anybody know if these clips are part of the panel or are they replaceable ?. Also does anybody know what the size of the blind rivets at the wheel well area that you have to remove to take this panel off. Mc master Carr carries black plastic rivets but I do not know which size to order.

I think we're not fully understanding what you're asking..... are you talking about the black @ 4" strip on top of the front bumper? Or on bottom? If it's the one on top, those clips are made into the plastic piece, and can't be replaced. Well, unless you have a plastic welder... . They are notorious for breaking and falling off. I've seen the whole thing get blown off and run over by the truck it came off when a front tire blows out... . As for the rivets, I'm not sure. I usually replace mine with 1/4" bolts and fender washers, with nylon lock nuts so it doesn't happen again... ... I think the factory rivets are 1/4" Chrysler number 6508444-AA... at least that's what I've used in the past... ... You might check on RockAuto Auto Parts I got a bumper topper from there a few back, and I think it was $20+ship.

Yes you are correct with the top piece. I went to rockauto and put one in the cart and when I went to shipping the shipping alone was 92. 00.

A 22. 00 part and 92. 00 shipping. I do not think I need it that bad and emptied cart. Guess I will start looking at plastic welders. Thanks for the reply.

Dave, try this part number at your local Orielly's, if you like. I think the last one I bought was $38, but they have to special order it. I got one last year for a customer. I think the shipping may have been why I quit JC Whitney and RockAuto..... Dave, as I sit here looking at my poorly written and grease ridden notes... . it occurs to me... that part number above is for a polished Aluminum Putco? grille insert... . not gonna help you, I guess.



The aftermarket part number for whoever is CH1000160 Original Dodge number is55076610AB, if my notes are right. That's for a non-sport..... I looked in my short run of reciepts for Orielly's, and I didn't see the last one for the one I bought. They can get it, but I don't have the part number for you.....



One other place I thought of just now, is LMC truck... . they've got a whole catalog on the '94-02 trucks. www.lmctruck.com

Seems I looked at LMC but may have missed it. DodgeParts.com has it for 70ish but I think shipping will nix the deal again. I don't mind paying some for shipping but I do not want to buy the truck.

OH, hey, I understand. I usually take mine that still have a factory bumper, set a small countersink, and use a self-tapping screw flush with the outside of the plastic. It's not too noticable. The lower gray section usually comes loose, too, and that gets screwed through, as well, with the screw holding both parts down..... And in a few months, that'll get destroyed, too, and I'll be looking at making one..... I've got a RanchHand bumper on one, Buckstops on a couple, and several with some bumpers I made several years ago when I had a welding/fab shop... . I don't have the time to fab much these days, so the Frontier bumpers are what I usually use. With hired hands, I have to have something to protect the truck from trees and cows..... It doesn't take long at $50 a whack for a good used bumper to pay for itself in headlights..... :{



At the LMC catalog, I think it's on page 14... http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/de/full.aspx?Page=14 Page 13 shows a full skin covered bumper... . Is that their design or the sport bumper?



I've also seen fully chromed bumpers with no plastic on them that look pretty trick, IMO. I'd like to have one, but they're just plain not tough enough for me. I'm kinda a chrome *****... I like the chrome mirror covers, window trim, polished aluminum wheels, with black bumpers and steps... . And don't even get me started on my KW..... You could signal the space shuttle with all the chrome in the cab of that thing... ... . :-laf

I will keep looking. It is not really noticeable but I know about it now so my eye's zero in on that section when ever I get close now. I either have to come up with a plastic welder, a different way of attachment or eat shipping charges. The welder looks like the best alternative but I do not know what it would do if anything to the out side of the plastic. Then I will have to find the clips as mine are gone. Maybe an epoxy instead of welding ?.

Ahh, I'm not sure epoxy is a good idea. I've tried several brands, including Devcon, JB Weld, etc. I've not had any luck in that area. I think it's the vibrations, but feel free to try. I gotta call Orielly's later today, so if I can remember, I'll ask about that upper piece.....
