Per FleetOwner News, Michelin of North America has recalled BFG T/A, A/S and Uniroyal Larado HD/H in the LT 235/85R16 LRE and LT245/75R16 LRE. This recall includes the US, Canada and Mexico with 799,000 in the US alone. The safety issue is tread loss/rapid air loss as a result of tread belt separation. I didn't know Michelin had control of the two brands.

Yes, Michelin owns BF Goodrich and Uniroyal. This does not mean Michelin MAKES BFG or Uniroyal tires, Michelin owns the companies.

I experienced two Uniroyal tread separations on my HitchHiker fifthwheel when it was a year old. I replaced the tires with XPS Ribs and Michelin issued pro-rated refunds on both Uniroyals and reimbursed me for damage repair on my trailer.

In my 43 years of driving I have never had a Michelin tire fail, and it is the most likely tire to be on my vehicles.

I had a pair of BFg's fail, and almost all of the uniroyals did too.

One vehicle, a work truck, dual wheels, that weighed in on the rear axle at 6600 lbs, ate up uniroyals.

i was talked into them by an employee and his friend at a tire shop. Load range 'd' and run at the tires max of 65lbs.

when the second one blew out with only a month and maybe 3,000 miles, the dealer told me I was running them under inflated!!! The max was 65 on the sidewall. Then he told me I had to run them at 80! ( even though he inflated them to 65 when installed).

i told him if he wants to inflate them to 80 it was his choice but I was not going to over inflat a tire. If he did and an accident happened, I would own his shop.

Well he set them to 65 and another month passed and two more failed. he said he has NEVER seen one failure and I had 4. ( I didn't believe him). The employee involved was the only driver too.

I threw them away and put michelins on it, same 'd' rating and finally wore them out 45,000 miles later.

I was disappointed to find a good tire maker like michelin bought a junk tire maker.

I am trying Yoko's on my 05 dodge.

Uniroyal was probably for sale cheap. Maybe they make decent small car or bicycle tires. I would never use another one.

X 2 Uniroyal is the worst thing that can be put on anything with wheels. They wont honor the warranty they ask to see the tire for that purpose and you will never see the tire again and they will have no idea of WHO/WHAT YOUR TAKING ABOUT/AND YOU NEVER GAVE THEM A TIRE.

I put YO YO'S on my International 4700 the absolute BIGGEST PIECE OF JUNK TIRES I HAVE HAD NEXT TO THE UNIROYALS BUT COULD BE EQUEALY THE SAME JUNK. IMO just save you time and money and go Michelin never had a problem.

I expect the original Michelin's on my signature truck to go 85-90,000 miles. You should be able to guess what I'll replace them with.

JMO As far as products that I purchase I only give them and the establishment where purchased ONE CHANCE!!!! if they dont get it right then thats the last chance they get.
