My truck is an '05, 6 speed, 5. 9L. Remember the long crank problem? About three yrs ago the software update was done and the idle increased to 850 rpm. It's been running at that and crank problem eliminated. Is there anyway to adjust rpm's down to the 700-750 range? Mechanical adjustment? Other ideas?

Thanks - Warren

I think it is computer controlled.

Harvey's right. Did Dodge reflash the later models to idle higher? ------> My 2004. 5 48RE idles at 750 rpm but my 2007 G56 idles at 850rpm. THe 2007 owners manual indicates the 2007 should idle at 850 and I think the 2004. 5 owners manual shows 750 but I don't have it handy at the moment.

I know for sure the idle speed setting, controlled by the ECM, is 750 up until at least 2006.

I wonder why they changed to 850. Exhaust emissions?

My 03 has the latest S/W and still idles at 750 - most of the time.
Not sure what it does with AC on, I don't use it often enough here in W. Wa.
