Just got the factory 3:73 gear ratio. Haven't found the need for the max tow. Our living quarters horse trailer is 38', and about 16,000 lbs. , and the truck just walks away with it. Just wish I could find out how to get the tow haul and exhaust brake to stay on all the time, without having to turn them on every time I start the truck. Has made for a couple of interesting stops when I forgot to put them on!!!
Hopefully Dodge/Ram wise up and offer the ''max tow'' package on the 3. 73 gearing too. .
No, I wrote that wrong. The weight of the trailer was 17,000. We had 130 bales on, at a weight if 100-110 lbs each, and the trailer is about 4,000. With the truck it was about 25,000. When I wrote it, I was thinking combined load of trailer and hay, but not the truck. Love the new truck!!

This is may new (to me) 2011 (pre max tow) at 24,900lbs I have the 373 and did not have any problems going from western WA to northern ID. The 373 gear set should be a little stronger due to higher pinion tooth count (larger)
Cummings,
Thats only 17,000 combined? 8k for truck, 4k+ for trailer, only 5k worth of hay?

Bob,
What is your pin weight? from the pic you look lower in the rear than my setup. I have 4,400# sitting on my rear axle and mine looks more like KYOUNG's pic. Is yours 2wd?
