EGT's and shut down

At what temperature is it safe to shut down the engine so the oil doesn't "cook" in the turbine? I have the EDGE gauge and I've been waiting for the EGT's to get below 450 degrees before shutting down.

The turbo is water cooled by engine coolant so some believe shutting it down at any temperature is acceptable.

I'm not comfortable doing that. My owner's manual offers the same guidance my two previous older Rams did: allow one to five minutes cool down time.

I always allow the egt to deteriorate to 400* or below before shutting it down.

If I've been "working" it, I let the EGT get below 500 deg. If just normal driving around, I don't even think about it.

I agree with Harvey when I was stock I timed how long the engine took to cool down the turbo based on the O&M guide that Ram provides. The engine turbo would cool down to 400F after one min in city driving and after 5 min's when towing my trailer. So I used the 400F as my temp to shut the engine off at.
