Squeaking from the trans?

How bad can it be?

The original antifreeze in my 03 still looked and performed ok since only 60k mies but after 9 1/2 years I decided to dump it.

I flushed the system with prestone flush and backwashed everything with the heater hose disconnected, etc. Horrible time getting that petcock spring compressed on the radiator drain but thats a different story.

Now the bad part - I had some Prestone Dexcool on hand which was labeled as compatible with the Mopar spec listed in my owners manual and I wrecklessly threw this in before reading up on the topic.

I've heard all the complaints about Dex Cool and wanted to know if this is safe to run this for a year or so in my 5. 9.

Should I add a silicate or other style additive to negate the ill effectes that Dex Cool Oat can have on Hoat systems?

Thanks!

Was at a radiator shop in town with a radiator off of some equipment getting it roded out and someone had brought a Dodge radiator in with plug problem. The shop guy gave me the lowdown on how those things work. I also struggled with mine and was thinking that I was going to have to take the damn thing out and have it fixed but it went in and has been good to go. When son did his service recently we did as the shop guy had said and worked just fine. Were in town one night and seen him at the dance and dine bought his beer and figured money WELL SPENT.

Good luck on the mixing of the anti freeze

I wouldn't use anti-freeze with silicates... that's basically a fine sand and I don't care to have it running around and using that abrasive on the seals of the water pump... I just changed my coolant in my 05 with 130K miles... the only coolant that I could find other than the dealer that met the specs was the Zerox G 05 or something like that at close to $18 a gallon and a complete change uses close to 4 gallons... .

I used the tee in the heater hose line... . and flushed it for 30 minutes or so with the water running very slow... . than attached an air line at 10 psi and flushed out the water... opened the drain cock and drained the radiator. .

3 1/2 gallons of anti-freeze and close to 3 gallons of distilled water... this time next year I'd add back a quart of CAT coolant additive like I've done the past 6 years... to add back the chemicals that go away with time...

Good thinking with the T in the line and then the use of air. Ill have to remember that one.
