Should we ramble away on TDR or just stick to the OP's question????

I'm thinking that most of us in TDR land are men. All men need to take care of their facial hair, so I thought it would be fun to discuss how we go about this. I'm attaching a poll asking weather you use the electric or the traditional method. I personally use the traditional method and use the Gilette Fusion blade with any of the King of Shaves gels. I have a mustache I trim with a small battery powered trimmer with a removable height rake.

I've come into a problem finding my King of Shaves gel, so I'm also looking to find out what others like. I'm also considering going "old school" with the brush 'n cup with the soap. Lets hear what you all like!

If you use the electric method- what do you like?

What ever works! A brush and cup with a good quality shaving soap. I use a straight razor on occasion, if I am not in a hurry:-laf. Keeping it sharp is an art in itself;)!

The high moisture gells work good also. A throwaway triple bladed razor works great in a pinch! Surprisingly, they last quite a long time if you shave daily!

An electric clipper will get it down to manageable length, if you let it go to long. Then hit it with the straight razor. Hot towels on the face before lathering up really helps but adds another step. Thats just the way it works for me!

Frankly, I hate shaving and am happy with a beard. My Wife doesnt like beards! I definitely want to keep her happyOo. :D:-laf;)!

Have Fun!

I tried a straight razor ONE TIME it looked like tried to shave with a running chain saw:-laf Wife asked if I needed to go to the hospital for a blood transfusion

I use a double edge razor with boar bristle brush and a good smelling soap.

Big- more on the soap .....

I use Proraso ( I think thats how it's spelled) its a soap not a cream. Sense my retirement I dont shave everyday  So I use the soap. But when I worked I shaved everyday and could use a cream. The cream is better IMO but when I get burly and NASTY I need to work in the soap and let it sit to soften up the tree branches growing out of my face I have a thick beard and it works better.

That site I put up is still where I get all my stuff that is a really good shop as far as YOU ya just have to try different things and see what ya like and what works. The blades are the big thing to me Wilkinson US are just crap and I told the guy that at the store he GAVE me a pack made in the UK WHAT A DIFFERENCE. Son likes a different kind as does the FIL and the BIL but my Son is half Indian FIL/BIL ARE Indians and their beards are nothing compared to my forest.

Bic single blade disposable for me. Tried the double/triple blade razors and they just didn't do a good job. Had to order them from outside the U. S. last time I bought any. I loaded up with a several hundred. Gillette Foamy or Barbarsol shaving cream.

I'm all for the electric. Been doing it since I was old enough to shave. Have used disposable blades before, but the electric is quick, easy, and effective. I replace the blades every now and again-no set schedule-and all is well. If I'm careful about the rechargable battery maintanence I can get them to last many years. Just don't recharge until the battery is completely dead and no problem.

If you are talking about the orange and white single blade Bic single blade disposables, that is what I use. Only, I have no problem finding them at our local grocery stores.

I have an old Weltmeister straight edge I use on occasion. It gives the best shave!
Wally world carries Van Der Hagen shave soap.
Usually use the Gilette Fusion, because I shave my head and never got the hang of the straight edge on my head.
I shave once or twice a week.

Back when I started I went and got a nice norelco triple header with the fancy LCD battery meter. I got That method from my dad. After a few years, the battery went bad and while cutting back on "luxuries" while saving for our first home, I started using blades. The electric always seemed to tear up my face anyway.
I just got the Duluth trading book in the mail with all their fire hose clothes n stuff. They seem to have nice shaving items in there.

I just use soap and a throw away double blade. Just for fun I shave in the shower without a mirror, don't want to scare myself. I have only been shaving for about twenty years, had a beard for at least that long. Electric shavers never worked for me. You would have to be a real man to shave your head with a straight razor.

use to work for them back in Georgia back in 1985 good company they use to have self sharping knives still have a couple that I still use

There's some others that are REAL sharp Feather is good and sharp Persona im not sure of the spelling, is what I buy locally but I try not to run out of the others , the blades are pretty cheap the more ya buy the better deal ya get . Just an Email and get some blades and other things shipped out from Chino Hills Ca. That shop I posted is a really good one have used it for years they always give free samples of all kinds of different things. No need to smell like the Barn even if I do like the place and the critters that hang out there.
