:{:1994 w2500/5-speed has a no start problem. symptons before it quit, abs lite, brake lite, and engine check lite flickering. radio going off and on, and then losing the station settings. after market electric fuel quit. no lites but the emergency hazzards still flash. tach ,alternator, fuel level, and oil pressure gauges seemed to work allright when this was happening for 6 miles. now i turn the key nothing but my pc#@$%! cussing. towed home, pulled and cleaned batteries, tested good. i am working on cleaning the grounds. any ideas would be very helpfull. thank you.

Have you checked fuses in Power Disbrution Center (under hood) and fuse box inside of truck?

Possible short in wiring for ignition switch. Do you have tilt steering (adjustable)? Check connections/wires at ignition switch connector.

Light switch/wires?

Definitely check grounds! Ground for many things on front of drivers side head/intake mainfold. There is a ground near radio.

i have a problem with start. will not turn engine. i have changed batteries and starter. my run selenoid will not engage to run but when i lift the selenoid actuator up manually and jumped started with ignition on. the motor fired up. any suggestions?

Bradleys, if starter not turning problem could be Neutral safety switch (auto trans), Clutch saftey switch (manual trans), or starter relay (in power distrubiton center under hood near driver's side fender).

If starter is turning. The fuel shut off solenoid has two coils one for start, one for run. Seems the "Run" on is working (try pushing rod up with ignition in "run" position and start truck with out jumping it. A blue wire coming off battery positive cable turns into fusible link or the fuel shut off solenoid relay (located on cowl/firewal,driver's side, largest one) could of went out.

hello bill, update my problem i was having with the no start. spent three days off and on going thru the wiring. cleaning grounds, added two more ground straps. did not find any broken or bare wires , until i replaced the fuses in the power box, found the red cable lead coming in from the postive post was loose. the nut had loosened up. eighteen years of TLC, go figure. i heard hoof beats, thought it was zebras but it turned out to be the old gray mare. i did find some other problems that i need to repair so it was not all a lost cause. i thank you for helping me out. i did search the tdr posts and my service manual, lots of good info, just have to sit down and take the time to read. thanks again.

Am I reading here that our '98s and older trucks ought to have a PM service done on the under hood fuse panel?

Like removing the batteries and then push/pull everything to see if it is loose in that panel?
