I have an immediate need for the number three fuel line from the P7100 pump to the injector.

New or used will suffice, and I am looking for the fuel line to repair a daily driver.

Do you have one, or any suggestions for a reliable source.

Any assistance will be gratefully accepted and appreciated.

Thank you

Dear Dead on the road... ... .

If you decide to try Cummins I offer the following info...

Cummins Part # 3925807

Item # 17

Should sell for about $85. 00 at a Cummins Branch or truck dealer.

Also, did it break from vibration because it is missing a clamp or two???

Or did something else happen to it???

Mike. :)

Thank you Mike. and thank you for the drawing. I am in error, it is the injector supply line item 18 which is the third cylinder back from the fan rather than the third in the firing order.

Would you also be able to give me the part number for that injector line also?

I really appreciate your prompt assistance.

No, at some point in time there has been water or moisture in that injector. It is so messed up that no matter how much it is cleaned up it will not seal.

When we changed that injector the other day, it had frozen or seized---it took a breaker bar and additional strength along with PB Breaker spray to get it loose. Thought we would never get it out of it's hole.

All of my brackets are intact.

Those lines are identified by position from f to r so it should be reference #17 for the Number 3 fuel line. I believe the drawing is accurate, follow the line with your eye from where the #3 injector is. You should wind up at the reference for 17.

Let me know if that is not the case. Don't want to throw out any more part numbers until you are double sure this is not the right one.

Thank you again Mike. You were correct!!! I was following the wrong line. Okay, Jesse, take a deep breathe...

Now if you need to get back on the road quickly, I suggest the following

Find the nearest Cummins distributor.

Call them and see if they would fly that line NDA direct from the Cummins factory to the shop where your truck is. Cummins premium freight charges are 17% of the price of the part currently. Pay them ahead of time with a C/C and they should do it for you.

That would put the part in your hands whatever time that Fed-Ex delivers air freight to that area tomorrow. That is assuming that no one has stock on hand close by.

Just as a followup for this thread, Cummins distributors in Phoenix, Tucson, and Albuquerque stated that it would be 10 to 20 days for delivery of the number three fuel line. Rush Peterbilt in El Paso ordered it and it should arrive in Cotton City, NM on Monday.

What I have learned from this is that on the 89 to 98 12 valves, is that the iron fuel line tends to corrode badly due to the amount of water in diesel fuel. Frequently, according to the technician, the fuel lines will get a rust particle that will block the fuel line causing it to act like a bad injector. And, getting new fuel lines to replace a bad line has a terrible supply line because of the number of customers needing new fuel lines.

I am told that on the 98. 5 and newer Dodge trucks, the fuel lines have a brazed bronze or brass tip to prevent the fuel line from seizing up on the injector.

This was the problem with my number three fuel line---the fuel line would not come loose from the injector. It had total rusted and seized.

Thank you Mike and everyone who responded to my call for assistance.

I am happy that Rush Truck Centers stepped up and took care of you.

However I am a little concerned regarding the apparent poor showing from Cummins Rocky Mountain.

I just had my distributor check the factory and they have (20) on hand right now. Did Cummins Rocky Mountain not offer to fly one directly to you??? Or is there more to the story? If they said 10-20 days that means that they were offering to simply place it on a stock order, instead of unit down.

Please let me know, I will e-mail the parts managers out there if the counter help needs a dite more training.

Hello again Mike---My good friend Buddy at Buddy's Garage and I were both looking for the fuel line. He talked to Phoenix, Tucson, and Albuquerque, while I started working East. The Service Manager Ed Pope at Rush is the son of my Forest Service boss---so I contacted Rush without dropping any names or requesting VIP treatment.

Juan Moreno of Parts at Rush ordered the part Wed to be shipped here. It arrived in EL Paso from Denver yesterday, and he reshipped it to arrive here today.

I am not certain about Cummins Rocky Mountain, whether they are a dealer or the distribution center. I can say that Rush and the center in Denver appear to have been very responsive to my need.

Perhaps the counter help needs more training, but not at Rush Peterbilt---I mean Juan was super helping this old man and his old truck get back on the road. My opinion, Juan Moreno did everything RIGHT...

Thank you for your asistance. I do not know didly about my Cummins, but if you need the 5 ton propeller shaft bearing for the 1200 pound steam system on a carrier---I used to be the man.

That's great and it sounds like Rush did it right. Tell Juan if he evers moves to Maine to look me up if he needs a job... :D

But Cummins should have been able to offer the same level of service. Without prodding... ...

Mike. :)
