I am wanting to remove the factory brake controller and replace the unit with the panel with tray. Do I need to do anything to get this removed further than unplug. Lots of info on adding but I want to remove. Do I need to take to dealer and get this removed from my build list on truck?

If you want to remove it for good have the sales code deleted. Your dealer may have to contact their Business Center warranty person to do it. Otherwise it will give a loss of COM code all the time for the missing module. If there is no cluster message or CEL, don't worry about it.

I'm not sure if this will help but it is my understanding that most Dodges after 2008 splice the wiring harness, leaving the integrated brake controller powered on but with the integrated controllers output wire disconnected. Hugs, Di

Why not unplug it, see if you get a cel, or light of some sort, if so, plug it back in, and zip tie it up behind the dash out of the way, then install the tray you want. That way when you someday sell the truck, or find you need the controller just reinstall
