Thanks, TDR Staff

watch out for those slide outs

We spend part of our time out in the RV without shore power and we've been trying to extend the time when we run the gen set... I contacted a vendor I'd used when in business and she put me in touch with a company that provided the following LED's. .

My current 921 bulb draws 25 watts each... and has about 250 lumen... the replacement LED draws 3 watts and has about 275 lumen... the light is whiter...

The first photo is the old 921 bulb with the LED and the adapters that are used to adapt to several different types of sockets... the second photo is one of the interior lights converted over BEFORE the lens cover was re-installed...

I really hate to break the silence of the boonies with a generator(even the quiet lil Honda) so I added 200 watts of solar power. Ido want to change over some fixtures over to led s but the longevity of the bulbs seems to be hit and miss fr reading reports on some rv forums

I have done a little research on LED's but haven't made the jump to installing any on inside of the travel trailer. One thing to keep in mind is that you need to watch the color temperature when selecting an led retrofit. It is a double edged sword where the lower the temperature the less lumens you will get from the light. From my reading it is best to stay in the 3000k area which is closer to incandescent lighting for living areas. I plan to use led lighting over my galley and in the compartments of the trailer for starters.

I have installed 2 of these lights inside the truck cap and they give off a remarkable amount of light. Currently these are operational through a single pole switch but I want to hook them to the dome lights inside the cab.

I put one of these near the trailer tongue for hooking up or keeping on while at the campsite so my shins don't take a beating on the the trailer tongue.

My friend converted the inside lighting of his Alaskan popup with very similiar LED lighting. The panels put out a lot of light, but some replacement bulb type didn't fare so well.

I picked these up from a vendor that I've used overseas... . if there is an interest I'd be willing to do something like a group purchase... . I ran some numbers. . I'm guessing that including freight to your door... they'd be something like $7 each...

My wife and I are leaving in the RV with 2 other couples or 2 weeks at Rocky Point. . so I'd be able to do something with this after the first of the year... it took about 14 days for the first order to come across DHL... . My buddies are interested as well... so by early Jan I should be able to get back in touch with you...

I replaced all my camper lights (at least the 1156's) with these. I have had them for about 2 years and could not be happier. This was a second try on LED replacements and they work great. Now I just have to upgrade a fluorescent fixture. Was hunting a month ago and it was a little cold (-10F Day and -35F night) and the fluorescent would not go. Of course I could only achieve about 50F in the camper with full time heat...

Hey guys I used that same kit to replace my 1156/1141 bulbs in my camper. Had to re-engineer it a bit, but at less than a 5 spot from Amazon well worth it!!
Just broke the glass then used the hard wires soldered to the base and crimped the new wire to the base. I used shrink tube over the end of the base and covered the butt connector's.
I will take a few pics and post.

Tried a few different styles before I got one I liked, bottom line was price, $25 down to $5ish on Amazon
Stuck with the cheep, $5 adds up when you do 20 or so fixtures, let alone any higher prices.
about ten min of my time and about $20 each savings!

I surfed Ebay this morning. But so many are incompatible with the Ram for some reason or the other. Many will only work with resistors... ... ..... I dunno.

I have a wind wing on the truck for when I tow high profile units. I have mounted 15" LED Stop, Turn and Marker lights on either side. It works very well when someone is running beside me and I need to change lanes.
