It's that time of year again where it is guaranteed that at some point in the day I will find some crappy driving.

Are you driving without headlights again :-laf

Weve been very fortunate so far this year usually by now we would have had a few shots of lake effect up to the nads :D

I need to head over Snoqualmie Pass in Washington (on I-90) today and its not looking pretty. It's been snowing nearly non stop up there since Sunday. One of the ski areas reports 7 feet of new snow since Sunday.

I was in Bangor today to see family. To bad you were in Houlton, I was buying the coffee. It looked like someone drew the curtain at Gardiner. No snow in the travel stop parking lot, but 95 north of the ramp was a different story. The state was still pushing back the break down lane.

Come on Mike you know you love it or you would have Moved to FL long ago. You Maniacs are a tough breed and like to complain about the white stuff but its not Christmas without it. :D We Love having the seasons being cold just tells me that IM ALIVE!!!!!

Have a great Season Mike take care of yourself and your family recent things happening in the world has made us VERY AWARE OF THAT Family is the MOST IMPORTANT PART OF LIFE.

Penny/BIG and Family

PS GET SOME SNOW I WOULD BE ASHAMED TO TAKE PICTURES OF THAT AND CALL IT SNOW

For God's sake man, let me know when you are coming Northbound again. We'll go do lunch or something.

Sorry that I missed you.

Houlton got over a foot of snow that night.

Mike.

I know, compared to the blistering that you get out there it really is not a lot of snow... ... . :D

It is nice to have everybody around for the day, I am fortunate that both of my children settled in Lincoln.

We see them quite a bit, have the grandkids a lot but Christmas is still a very special day. Am looking forward to it.

You and yours have a great Christmas as well!!!!!

Take care,

Mike and Sandy... .

Forgot to mention, photo's 2,3,4 & 5 are taken in the Haynesville Woods. US Route 2A.

If you ever heard the Dick Curliss song "Tombstone Every Mile" this is the road that he was referring to.

It was the main highway to Northern Maine until Interstate I-95 was built in the early '70s.

There is a tombstone beside the highway between Linneus and Haynesville. Not a truck driver.

It was a soldier that was run over by an Army wagon in the early 1800's. The road was constructed by the military back then to supply a fort in Houlton.

Soldier Hiram T. Smith ...

My ol man almost froze to death on that road in the late 50s. He left RI right after work to go see my uncle who had transferred to Limestone AFB. The gas line on his Merc froze and he sat from 10 pm till daylight waiting for someone to come along. Even though he was born and raised in Alagash, he left home without extra cloths or blankets. I heard that story every time I headed north till the day he died.
