Nominee No. 2:[ Kalamazoo Gazette]:

James Burns, 34, (a mechanic) of Alamo MI, was killed in March as he was trying to repair what police describe as a "farm-type truck. " Burns got a friend to drive the truck on a highway while Burns hung underneath so that he could ascertain the source of a troubling noise. Burns' clothes caught on something, however, and the other man found Burns "wrapped in the drive shaft. "

Don't try this at home. bg

Reminds me of an advertisement back in the day... . showed mechanic on a creeper hanging on to the bottom of the truck while driving...

Apparently they did not read the book that comes out every year that gives out a stupid reward ( the reward is you get the stupid thing that you did to get killed in the book). I read about the same thing different people several years ago (in that morbid book), they had to take the driveshaft off so thay cold untwist the stupid man from it.

BOB 4x4 and I had a little impromptu talk on the subject of NATURAL SELECTION on another post that would surly apply in this case. :D

Problem here is this mechanic has problably already procreated and sustained his gene pool, which will no doubt do the same.

Wow... This also happens with PTO shafts. Have seen pics of this from instructional material related to extricating the remains. It ain't pretty!

Nothing !!!! and I mean Nothing beats the horrific view of someone other than me, pulling whats left of a human body out of a JET INTAKE!!!!! YOU WONT WANT PASTA WITH MEATBALLS FOR QUITE AWHILE!!!

Got to see some pictures of what was left of a poor fella several years ago during some annual safety training... .
The story that went along with the pictures was involving a brand new gas compression package. . Typically on a new startup, the coupling alignment is performed, and a second "hot alignment" is performed after 24 hours of run time. According to the guy showing the pictures, a non-english speaking roustabout worker was on location doing some touchup paint work... He got too close to the coupling spinning at 1400RPMs and his fall arrest harness got sucked into it...
Those fall arrest harnesses are designed to NOT fail... . the pictures were gross... almost not identifiable. . One of the worst I have ever seen. .

When Son was a paramedic in Ca went on a call were the guy was going to commit suicide with a shotgun under the chin pointing up.
