New Hauler Bed

Sad but great memories.....................

Might even do a little site seeing along the trip. Told the wife this she about fell over :-laf SHE SAID NO WAY!!!! the world must be coming to an end, you stop! for anything other that to get rid of or resupply with coffee????

http://iowa80truckstop.com/

I seen it on TV and thought someday, so it may be the day when I go. ;)

Its sad to say but I still miss driving, I see a nice truck go by and wonder where he's steaming off to??

Hey BIG, if your up for a little site seeing and your going through Iowa, John Waynes birthplace is a neat little place to stop. They turned his home into a mini museum of memorabilia from his movies and personal life. its pretty small, doesnt take long to go through, but I thought it was worth the stop. IIRC, its about 15 minutes off of I-80.

Picking up the phone and makeing a call only takes a minute to answer the question. And it could be that not all chicken coops will have the same interpitations of the law. I think that is where it will differ. Suprise the MRS and do some site seeing.

FWIW. I used my deckover to move my son from Boston to Seattle, then used it to move a friend from Ft. Lewis, WA to Houston. Both times it was loaded with a 8 X 8 X 4 tarped plywood box full of household goods, a motorcycle and a small car on the back. I didn't stop at any scales anywhere, but I didn't go thru NE either. I've seen those signs and one time had a level one there, but I was commercial on that trip. Anyway, I would bypass them and if someone wants to chase you down, let them. As long as your aren't hauling commercial you are good to go IMO.

I would not recommend bypassing a scale where the signs direct all trucks or all vehicles with trailers to stop, even if not commercial. An annoyed DOT trooper who chases you down is guaranteed to find violations that will result in tickets and possibly and out of service order.

Harvey, I'm not advocating bypassing a scale that signs direct all trailers to enter. What I am saying is NE is the only state I have been through, and I've been through nearly all of them, that directs non-commercial traffic onto the scale. I really doubt a trooper could put you out of service if you were never in service to start with. A ticket for non-compliance maybe, but that is about it.

i USED TO HAUL HAY FROM UTAH TO TX ALL THE TIME, ONE TIME DOT WAS SET UP BESIDE THE ROAD AT GUNNISON COLORADO, I PULLED OVER THERE AND THEY TOLD ME GO ON, I DID NOT HAVE TO STOP WITH FARM TAGS ON MY VEHICLE, THE ONLY STATES I HAVE HAD TO STOP WHILE DRIVING MY PICKUP AND PULLING A TRAILER WAS NEBRASKA AND SOUTH DAKOTA. i PULL ALOT FOR DISASTER RELIEF AND NO ONE HASSLES ME WITH THEM TRAILERS, mONTE

What one CO DOT officer did at some time in the past means nothing. DOT officers can do whatever they please but your TX farm plates are completely illegal when you're hauling hay interstate for sale and only good for a 150 air mile radius from a farm or ranch intrastate Texas IF you earn the majority of your income from farming or ranching activity. From what you've posted here you are not even eligible to use farm plates in Texas and they are invalid once you cross the TX state line.

all pickups in our state are Commerical taged!!!

Don't believe this is correct BIG. Nowhere on my plates or registration does it state commercial.

Here's a crummy photo of my registration

First of all, y,ou don't know what you are talking about, 2nd i was hauling hay for MY cows, You need to get a life,Monte

I understand. Facts and the truth often get in the way of what some choose to believe. I sometimes annoy people like you when you're engaged in spreading bs here and I offer facts that dispute their stories.

If you could understand what you were reading ,you might, but you don't so don't reply anymore, I've got better things to do than squabble with you, HAVE A GOOD DAY,Monte

Wayne I dont think that a Mechanic should be without a CDL. How can they say its fixed if they dont drive it, other than just to a parking spot in the yard.

Lol big

Do what I did for 8. 5 years. Think positive-I will not get pulled over while test driving!!!

Ymmv

What I said about our plates being Commercial Farm was WRONG!!!! THERE I ADMIT IT I MADE A BOO BOO !!! What the wife told me I should have said is our plates are

NON COMMERICAL FARM

The difference is that I can not haul ag products for sale. What this also exempts me from is if the state EVER SAYS THAT TRUCKS NEED TO INSTALL EXHAUST TREATMENT (AKA EXHAUST AFTERBURNER SYSTEM) that my International would be exempt from that because of the weight of the truck and the NON COMMERICAL FARM plates and that im not going to drive it so many miles a year for the farm use.

JJ it must be like Ca was its an implied rule anything up to a half ton is nothing more than a car. From there up is considered commercial. at least thats what the FIL attorney told us he was the one that at a party I was talking to about my International and he said he would get back to me on that and he came up with THIS LOOP HOLE.

Surely you're not stupid enough to think you can tell me what posts I can respond to?

Here's what TXDOT has to say on the subject: http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/InternetForms/Forms/CVE-13.pdf

Note page 6 which describes the 150 air mile radius limitation.

There's no need to believe what I've been telling you, try reading and arguing with TXDOT.

Ya better hope you dont get pulled over :-laf

One of our Mech's and was one of the better one's was a driver until he had a DUI, he started to wrench and at least knew what we were talking about.

This is just telling us that if you restrict your hauling to within a 150 mile radius that you do not need a CDL, But i do have a CDL, DUH HELLO IS ANYBODY HOME

Ya I did Wayne Thanks ,I just threw it out to see what came back when I drove it was only 11 western states and anything east of the Missisoiinopiiiopqaqppi I didnt really know. Even when we went to the disasters all over the country we had a WIDE OPEN TICKET we were overweight and they didnt even ask for our log's the truck had a big FEMA sticker and they just looked at us most of the time.

Don't ya just love it when we all get along????? I was waiting for the Dumocrap Kenyan I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER to be thrown at eachother.

The wife asked if I thought about having a TDR get-to-geather like I did for our Mountain Man group and her group of rural housewives but I think the Hillbilly's group could at least be civil to eachother Most of TDR could!!! but there are some that YOU JUST DONT HAVE AN OPINION THAT DIFFERS OR YOUR A TARGET FOR THE DUMOCRAP KEYNAN POOP SLINGING CONTEST

AND THE HILLBILLYS HAD SOME FINE KENTUCKEY CLEAR ;)

BIGNASTY, Is your daughter moving to Indianapolis or Greenwood? Been in that I80 truck stop several times, It is big.

She was the one that I talked to you about moving to Greenwood. She decided to rent for awhile after I talked to you and look around the WHOLE AREA she was kind of thinking outside of town so she could get some property, but then she had this opportunity to move to a VA hospital in Missoula and be near family so she took it. We are SUPER HAPPY she did we are a family that is whole again her Mother and I could not be any happier we have both our children and a DIL and our Grandson near us.

The only thing that could destroy the plan is if one their opinions differ from ours LOL
