I just purchased a 2011 heavy duty 2500 diesel. I just am really excited and very happy. Until I talked to a friend. He stated another acquaintance talked to a diesel mechanic who made the statement to not buy a 2011 or 2012 because there were problems of the pistons burning up due to inferior parts from diferent suppliers. He said cummins was getting parts from different places and the parts were not holding up. Is this just talk or is there something to it? Please give me some input thanks.

Nonsense! If you're serious ignore bs like that. If you're a troll here to stir up a bunch of loyal Dodge-Cummins owners take that crap and go back to your Ferd website.

I've been an active member on this website for a long time. I've never heard anything even remotely resembling that garbage you just dumped in your first post. It was about as dumb as someone telling us "my brother in law said his cousin told him this guy he works with knew a guy whose brother had a bad Cummins engine because the pistons were made of tinfoil. "

That's as bad as an individual over on iRV2 who just recommended that a new RVer who is looking for a mid-2000s diesel truck should buy a Ford 6. 0 because Dodge/Cummins have bad injectors, transmissions and rear axles while GM Duramaxes have weak transmissions (Allisons). That's honestly the first time I've ever seen anyone recommend a 6. ohno over a Cummins.

Sounds like the internet, if it is their it must be true:)
You will be just fine, do your homework and you will likely be very happy for a long time.
I think so much of the combo I got a bad apple the first try and still went and got another.

Most here will give you facts and first hand experience, making a better owner out of all of us, but just like produce in the store you will still run into some less than desirable, chose wisely!

Oh yea welcome

Thanks for the support and responses ... I really love the truck and plan on keeping it a long time. This is my 3rd cummins diesel. By the way, I wouldn't and didn't even consider one of those ford things! :-laf
