I am thinking about buying 4 of these Michelin tires for the rear of my dually. I do not do any off road driving. However, most of my driving is highway driving and pulling my 13,000# RV about 20% of the time.

I would like to have some feedback from members that use these tires and your opinions on their performance. Do they make a lot of road noise? How many miles do I expect to get out of them with normal driving? Is there a comparable choice of tires? If so, what other choice would you recommend?

I tried a set on my 2500 and was underwhelmed enough to take them off after about a week. (I have a very understanding tire store that I deal with. ) I found that steering response was very mushy, even with 75 psi in the fronts, and the ride quality wasn't great. 2 of the 4 tires were somewhat out of round, unusual I though for Michelins and after indexing them and balancing them twice, I gave up and tried something else. I have had Bridgestone Revo's and Revo 2's, the original Michelin LTX's, and now am on my second set of Hankook Dynapro ATM's. I like the Hankooks the best. First set I replaced at 48k. They still had a fair amount of tread left and would have gone another 10k easily, in my estimation. What prompted the new tires was an unplanned Georgia to Wyoming trip trailering a Nissan Xterra for my daughter after she flipped her 4Runner on black ice. I felt a little better with new tires given the likelihood of winter weather. Actually drove through an icy/snowy mess in Nebraska and Missouri coming home on New Year's day and was glad I had new tires. The Hankooks are very quiet for a relatively aggressive tread design, and are very round and take little weight. Best tire I've had on this truck.

I have had the LTX M/S on my 2500 since 1994 with approx. 40k on them with no problems and like you I pull my 32' fver about 20% of the time. I rotate them every 6k miles. There is no road noise from the tires. When these wear out I will probably definately use the same type again but I probably have at least another 15k before I have to think about doing that.

I've used nothing but Michelins on my trucks, cars, and fifthwheels since the late '90s. I routinely got 110k miles out of each set of six on my duallies when I was transporting and running lots of miles.

They are the best tires money can buy unless you want some kind of monster off-road tires. I find them smooth, quiet, long wearing, and provide excellent traction and handling.

I replaced my LTX AS (OEM) at 65k(could have gone farther but winter was coming) with LTX MS2 and I find them to be great a tire. Definitely a few steps over the LTX AS I had before, no wheel spin in the rain anymore, excellent traction in the snow and very stable when towing, no road noise at all(At least no more than LTX AS I had before which was pretty much none). I totally recommend them, More money than most tires but if I can get the same 65k or better from them I would be happy enough to get another set.

I ran 2 sets of LTX M/S tires, and now have a set of 6 LTX M/S 2 tires. only about 6k on them as of now, but they seem as good as the originals. The originals lasted to about 116,000 miles. . good enough for me.

You rarely hear of anybody being disappointed with Michelin LTX M/S2 tires or their predecessor, the LTX M/S. you mentioned that 2 of 4 tires were out of round. Was this determined by mounting on the rim and spinning them with an object close to the tire to see if the gap opened and closed? Or did the guy operating the tire balancer not know how to operate the machine and blamed it on the tire? Could be.
Anyway, I've been hearing good things about Hankook tires and am glad to hear you are happy with them, as well.

I have always used Michelins tires on my vehicles as either replacement tire or on a new vehicle if possible to order them. I am currently using the LTX M/S2 tires now on my 08 2500HD Mega Cab. I tow a 11K 5er in the camping season and I have had no issues with them at all. I run the rear at 70 PSI when towing and at 50 PSI when I am not towing. The front tires are at 60PSI per the tire placard on the door.

I have had only one issue with the LTX M/S2 tires as I reported some time ago where the outer black rubber covering did not bond on two of the tires. This was discovered on my last tire rotation and the tires were replaced free of charge under warranty by the selling dealer.

You can never go wrong with Michelin. I've had 2 sets of LTX M/S and now- the A/T2. There's never been an issue. Never a flat tire since new. It's a work truck, loaded with tools, tile, stone, drywall or lumber. More expensive then most brands, but it's well worth it for me. Good luck

I have the same tires on my truck and can't say enough good about them.

Handling, quietness, comfort, etc, etc are exceptional.

I won't run anything else after these.

I have gone thru 2 sets of the original M/S, very happy with them. I have a set of the M/S2 on now I have vibration between 40 and 45 mph could be tires don't know. But I did get an out of round tire (every time I went over a series of bumbs it felt like the front right tire was slapping. Jacked the truck up put straight object (milk crate) spun tire it was out of round, took it back got a different tire. ( Changed out all universal joints on drive shafts still vibratates, lucky I'm not in between 40/45 much. )

I usually get 60,000 out of the M/S tires.

I don't know how you guys are getting more than 100 thousand miles out of 40 thousand mile rated tires. (am I reading this right???) I only got 20 thousand out of mine before they hit the wear marks. My LTX-MS were purchased in 08. The most significant thing about them I can mention is they leave marks everywhere they are turned on low speed parking maneuvers.

Regarding people getting 100,000 miles on tires: I can see a truck that spends its time gobbling up miles on the highway with a driver that is conscientious about tire pressure, acceleration and deceleration getting that much, especially on a dually.
Give that same truck to a person that drives around town, turning often, starting and stopping often and abruptly, and the same truck may only get 50,000 or so...

I resemble that remark!

I own a repair shop and mount and balance my own tires. I measured the tires with a runout gauge and the two worst tires measured four and five mm respectively. I tried indexing the tires, with no real improvement, since my wheels are true. I also fine balance my tires, my objective is to get them to a 2 gram or less reading on my balancer, which I calibrate regularly. The same balancer is used on Porsche, BMW and Mercedes wheels and we don't have vibration complaints from our customers. My experience is obviously in the minority, but it wasn't good, to say the least. What surprised me was the difference in steering response with the AT2's in comparison with the original LTX's. Very mushy, even when inflated to more than I usually run.

I had excellent luck with the LTX AS. Ran the first 2 sets on our '04. 5 to 100K and 85K. Switched to the LTX At2's and only got 35K on the first set and a little under 30K on the second. Also tried them on the '07 and they were gone well before 30K again. I certainly didn't think that they would wear as good as the all seasons, but no where near the tread life that I expected from Michelin. I've chosen to move away from Michelin for anything other than the LTX AS if I ever go that route again. Hopefully you will have good luck with the M/2's.
