This forum performance sucks and it seems it's falling on deaf ears. I won't be contributing much longer.

If you mean the software I fully agree. TDR, since the recent change, now has the worst software of any website I frequent. The edit feature is next to impossible to use. The only way I have found to use it is to wait, sometimes for what seems like 30 seconds, to allow a short reply to post then exit the TDR forum. When I sign on again it is usually possible to use the "go advanced" feature.

If I get involved in writing a long post, editing and adding to it as I go along, spending perhaps ten minutes writing it, the TDR software usually stalls and will not allow posting. Sometimes I can cut my own post, exit the forum, and then open the reply mode and post my original post in its entirety. Sometimes the software simply stalls and I can't cut, copy, or post what I have written.

I"m finding it very frustrating as well.

TDR is the best Dodge-Cummins club, publishes the best or perhaps only high quality magazine, has the collectively best informed members, and the best website with the worst software on the web.

I'm disappointed.

I too have had my share of issues, however as a non computer expert I am not sure if it is me or the site. I do think that since the site has offered a 30 day free trial membership, there are/have been some one post wonders that I suspect is spam...

I am having trouble this week with editing as well. It is hit or miss.

Pros... .

Much easier to manage attachments and photos. You can also reuse a posted photo in a new thread. That is great for me.

Cons... .

No working spell check

Slow or inpossible editing.

Site as a whole is slower and seems to be bogging down during the day.

Maybe Steve needs to give it a tuning, the server may have a bug.

Mike.

Ok guys here is how I do my posting, REMMBER I am old school.

I open MS word and type and edit all my post and threads in this program spell check is hit or miss. Such as when I try and type Cummins the spell check will say it is CUMMINGS so I had to add Cummins as a good word.

This has worked for me on all forums that I have been on. So I just cut and past when I am done, it is faster too.

It's been brought up time and time again.

This morning it had me hung up for quite some time. Also, if you post a quote, it doesn't include those characters as a post so it errors saying too few characters.

The whole business of losing all previous links is just a killer.

I belong to a lot of forums. This one is bad.

And here I thought it was just me and the satellite connection. Not only do I experience the exact issues Harvey posted, but often times I have to refresh the page one or two times before it displays correctly.

Yep, that's what I do on this and other forums too. It’s easier and faster. Occasionally, if I use the spell-checker in the toolbar at the top of the page on this forum, it dumps everything I have written.

I know this sounds like I'm a complainer but some of us devote substantial amounts of our time answering questions and posting things we did. If the forum is not being at least maintained, I will hesitate to push keystrokes here.
Just use it for history I guess.

like you im on satellite the problem im having is getting on the site!!! all the others I belong to work fine every time this one seems to let me on 1 time with no problems if I PM or receive a PM and read it im knocked off and then getting back on is next to impossible. I talked to the satellite company and they gave us the Gen4 for free as an upgrade because of some problem that they were experiencing but no change on this site but works great for others. I know that some times the weather is the problem cant help the snow covering the Satellite dish but knock it off and same as above happens all over again

I seem to get a hit and miss on most websites, but since TDR "upgraded" I have had a disproportionate number of connectivity or page completion errors. I think there is a compatibility issue with the software.
I was thinking of moving up to the GEN 4 to see if there would be any improvement. Over the years I have "upgraded" through a number of "new and improved" satellite and network modems at the recommendation of the service provider, all resulting in no improved service and a lighter wallet. The only weather related issues we have experienced were short term (very heavy) rain, a bit of snow buildup on the antenna (quick swipe and it's gone), OR the scripted foreign language lesson from customer service - Sunny outside AND, according to the Weather Channel, sunny on the East coast over the land based "mother-ship" dishes. I don't know what the weather was in India... but it must have been raining really hard -- there...

Just a thought, but this site seems to work better for me on my Mac running Firefox instead of the PC running Internet Explorer. I don't know anything about computers, but it does seem to make a difference for me.

The Gen 4 works better for the wife's projects on the internet I just look around and do this kind of stuff mostly looking for things and places. The snow builds up on our system and its no big deal to knock it off and continue except for the fact that it's REALLY FRIGGIN COLD most times it happens and the wife REALLY hates going outside when its like that :-laf

She just seen what I posted and gave me the NCIS Denoso head slap :-laf:-laf

Maybe I NEED to look into the GEN 4 upgrade so's I don't get a Denoso head slap. The wife is always doin' some project and the computer konks out or stalls due to non-existent "weather" issues - and I have to run for cover - faster than on Charlie row with a hung bomb coming back to base... It's not MY fault!!!

No problems getting on (matter of fact I use this site has a test site when I can't get to another site to make sure my internet connection is working).

Every now and then it is slow trying to get back to the thread after editing a reply. Sometimes the reason for getting back to the thread is slow is because another member is posting or saving an edit reply at the same time you are.

I have trouble using "smilies" on certain forums.

As for "spell check" I have a dictionary close by! ;)

Since I'm computer illiterate I don't use all the fancy advance things on the site.:)

I do miss using my old links but I'm starting new folder for TDR links and when I get time I'm going to search thru the archives and find all the old links.

I try to get the sentence structure correct. Besides the Editor wanting members to look inteligent my big Sister is a gramar freak and mite be reading my post making sure I use correct english/gramar (They must be she hasn't said anything yet).
