How often does this happen I wonder?

Looking to pickup a 2010

Does anyone know if Ram has actually built and shipped a single 2013 3500 yet? If Ram hasn't shipped a single unit, does anyone know what the hold up might be?

Thanks!

I visited one of the larger dealers in eastern ND about a week ago and saw 2012's everywhere but not a 13 in sight. Maybe the plant goes through some sort of shutdown during this time of year... the reason I say that is when I ordered my 11, I ordered it in Jan 2011 and it didn't arrive until late Mar and no one could tell me what the holdup was. 3 full months... I was truckless for a month as I sold mine just a little too soon... all during some of the snowiest times here in ND. Waiting is sooooo hard... hang tough.

I don't think a plant shut down is it retooling. . Ram started production on 2500 back in Jan and they are now appearing on dealer lots. They were supposed to start 3500 production on 2/25 but something happened.

There seems to be a bunch of us that went from production status D1, back to C. A guy on another forum is now reporting that he spoke with a manager at Chrysler and was told that all 3500 production, for the US, has been pushed back to May, at the earliest. They wouldn't tell him why and we'd all like to know what's going on.

I'm truly tempted to cancel my 3500 order ... I ordered in Jan, expecting a build start date of 2/25, but it seems nothing is getting built. My order and others went from D1 -> D ->C ... backwards. Plus, MY '14 order banks open in the 1st week of June and production is supposed to start on 7/1. I really don't want to take a depreciation hit for getting a MY '13, instead of a '14, if they can't even build it till May, at the earliest.

If anyone's got any info on what might be happening with the 2013 3500 production, please let me know.

Thanks!!!

At that rate they might as well start calling the 3500 2014s, skip the 2013 year and have a long 2014 run. its not unusual for cars to do this.

I was at dealership today and drove 13 2500 couldn't get any real answer on 3500's. Liked what I saw for the most part. Didn't like the no real fuel cap and the urea fill hole was awful small. I did get the official gear ratios on the new Asian transmissions.

Just looked at a few window stickers of 2500's at local dealers. Appears prices aren't very much different than on 2012's. All listed 3. 42 as the gear ratios and fuel tanks are a bit smaller at 32 gals.

MSRP/Invoice pricing didn't change much... The big difference is in the rebates... '12s got some mighty big ones... '13s ain't got much... . I think $500 customer cash, $1000 trade in or lease bonus.

Also, all SRW Cummins equipped for '13 only get 3. 42s and fuel tank is 31gals for SB and 32gals for LB.

Glad I made the decision to go with a '12 rather than wait for a '13 3500 SRW. Even with the claimed increase in fuel mileage and fewer oil changes, I don't think I would have re-couped the amount of rebates and discount offered on the '12 at least for a significant number of miles.

Last Monday (March 4th) mine was back to 'C' status as well. When I called Ram customer service for an update this morning, she said production wasn't expected to start until the last week of the first quarter (I, too, was expecting a 2/25 start for 3500s, and previously had a 3/6 estimated date to load on the rail car). I got no further indication as to cause for the delay.

A 7/1 production start for a '14 (which I saw posted previously) would take me through most of the summer rodeo and Jeeping season with no truck (I sold the '03 in October), but I'm also starting to question the wisdom of owning an orphan model year with potentially only two months worth of production. What after-market manufacturers are going to bother even marking their products for compatibility with '13s? Will we see stuff for 2010-2012 and 2014-Up? And a two months older truck will always be 'a year older'. Feeling the frustration and doubt today.

I am sure everything that would fit a 2014 and up 3500, would fit the 2013.

I do agree with the devaluelation of the 13 vs the 14.

I had a similar experience with a 2000 model. I ordered a 2000 3500 dually in September 1999 and it arrived and I took delivery in late November. In January 2000, Dodge changed to the 2001 model year which was less that 6 weeks after I took delivery of my truck. If I had known they were going to do that, I would have waited and ordered a 2001 and not take the depreciation hit later. After my experience, if I were in this situation, I would cancel my order and re-order after production begins on the 2014 model year trucks in July. If I really needed the truck, I'd have to take my chances that Chrysler/Ram actually is going to build 2013 trucks sometime this year.

Ram really dropped the ball on the 13' 3500s. Their website is still stuck in MY2012. I'll wait now to order a 14'. I'll hope for positive feedback on the short run of the 13's.

My plan too. Why order now, when can get a year newer truck by waiting a few months.

Were almost to April, I would hold off for a 2014 for sure

The only problem I see with getting a '14 is the wait... Assuming they start production on 7/1, as they've said, in all likely hood, August would probably be the earliest we sees them to start appearing on dealer lots...
