Truck scale in Grand Rapids, MN?

Ultimate RV

Not bad if you want to travel an additional 500 miles At close to $4. 00 a gal of fuel BOTH WAY'S and make 4 days of travel BOTH WAYS

Ok Big, map it out for me. I want to hit an RV park at night, and leave by 5 am each day. I will be glad to consider your route, wife on the floor or not.

Let's just not get to the "my wife can beat up your wife" level... :-laf

Ya gotta get up to date Big:D when they built the bridge across the river all those nasty hills across the dam went away.

Nick

Yer right Nick I should not drive a road because it might be TO MUCH. When and IF that happens the American Public wont have to worry about an old codger that shouldn't be on the road because I cant figure out where the brake peddle is, I will go to the freeway park on the side of the road and wait for a Roadway truck to come and step out in front of it CAUSE WE ALL KNOW THAT THEY DONT KNOW HOW TO DRIVE EITHER!!!!! :-laf

BIG :D

Just to get things STRAIGHT my wife is from MT we have just a FEW roads that might be considered a little iffy. I have told her if it bothers her fine we WILL go another route. She has been ANYWHERE and EVERYPLACE with me driving in a BIG truck and in our little toy truck AND SHE HAS NEVER!!!!! EVER!!!!!! SAID TO STOP. Its the way that the DRIVER of the truck presents it to them, if YOUR terrified THEY are terrified.

So you want to leave Vegas? at 5 am how far do you drive each day? I know that folks are different and some can drive like the day NEVER ENDS and some can only go a few hundred miles and I respect that. ITS NOT A CONTEST.

Huh? Going through Denver is 1344 miles and I-40 is 1486.

Nick

Vegas to NMexico to Dodge city to Omaha 1450 is what I come up with

Las Vegas to Omaha via Denver 1284

= 166 miles more each way... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... . FOR THAT IM SORRY I HARVEY BARLOW-ED FOR JUST A MOMENT :D

A few things that I have learned from bignasty's posts:

He knows everything
He is padding his post counts
He could care less about being good people

and most important of all... he is a richard cranium.

No problem, I used Pahrump as a starting point also so that adds 50 miles or so.

Padding post counts???? I must not know everything WHY FOR GOD'S SAKE WOULD I DO THAT

Big, I come in here looking for a website that helps plan trips and you need to use your OTR trucking experience to tell me that I am an inexperienced hill wimp. I have towed and traveled plenty, but was looking for a website and got plenty of help otherwise. Not sure why you need to be like you are on the TDR. This has been a pretty congenial site and we all pay for it. I have never had a problem with Harvey Barlow's posts because he is on point and actually decent to his foes.

You on the other hand tend to berate the people whos conversations you respond too. WTF Big? Can you tone it down a level or two?

Watch out for Green River its a killer Hwy :-laf Flash floods were a bigger problem than ANY KIND OF GRADE :-laf

Just East of GR to be exact

Your right he is on point (on the top of his head) are you sure we are talking about the same guy?????

You asked for some thoughts, I gave some thoughts, you neglected to say that you WONT go thru Salt lick, You WONT go thru the mountains so when you read my thought you were pi**ed so go any F,ing way you want my suggestion is to FLY and maybe the roads will be safe this summer when others are out for a dirve and dont have to watch out for old folks with walkers on the highway. :D

I think and (really dont give a I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER) but where you may have gone off track with my posts were NOT INTENDED TO YOUR TRIP!!

Post #6 RVTRKN said that the grade on I 70 was bad  my response was NOT directed toward you I have still have to talk to RVRTKN and make sure we are in fact talking about the same I 70 cause not even the wife can remember there being a bad grade.

Post # 17 was where Nick (who I have fun ribbing eachother at times) said I need to get up to date!!! well maybe so I dont avoid things on the hwy like hills or down grades its a skill thing with me and Im not ashamed to admit it im NOT WORTH A I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER at many things BUT I CAN DRIVE ANYTHING WITH MORE THAT 2 FRIGGING WHEELS AND PRETTY DAMN GOOD AT IT.

Post # 22 was me again talking to NICK about when the time comes that I cant drive worth a I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER I will step out in front of a Roadway truck because they cant drive either being a road driver for the better part of my life I have seen alot of truck companies come and go and cant remember a bunch of worst drivers that ROADWAY TRUCKING.

So if you think I was jumping up you A** with golf spikes on think again!!!!! excuse me but its TEE TIME!!

Careful what you wish for, BIG :). Im gonna be in Wyoming this summer visiting the family. Probably swing through the badlands and maybe Yellowstone depending on how much time we have. Want to show the kiddos some real country plus the last time I was through there I was knee high to a grass hopper:D Beautiful country, sure do miss it

MZahn,

If you are a Good Sam member they have a pretty good trip planner. http://www.goodsamclub.com/travel/freetriprouting/ I have not personally used it because, as with any of the club type planners, they figure in their preferences and overlook a lot of what you may or may not want to see or do on the route.
Our favorite is Microsoft Streets & Trips with GPS, which we have used for a number of years with great success... much more so than TomTom which led us off our planned route and sent us across Utah Hwy 12 - OVER HOGSBACK, then in California re-routed us somewhere in Merced to CA Hwy 49 thru Mariposa then to our destination of Columbia. I remember seeing a sign that stated vehicles with more than three axles were not recommended - but there was no place to turn around. Let's see... one truck = 2 axles, and one 27 ft trailer, = another two axles... hmmm... four axles. NUGGETS!!!. The next three hours - and 20 miles were, well, if you have ever seen Lucy and Desi in the Long, Long Trailer, you would have a pretty good idea. The wife spoke in tongues - at least I couldn't understand a word coming from her normally sweet lips.

Here is another site that may help - http://www.roadtripamerica.com/index.htm

I like Nick's suggetion. It is probably the closest route matching your criteria.
The less mountain travel would be to take I-40 from Kingman, AZ to Tucumcari, NM then north on 54 to Dodge City, KS and keep going north and east from there. Its not the shortest route but stays out of the Colorado mountains.
You can see some interesting sites along this route like Acoma Pueblo, just off I-40, Old Albuquerque, NM, (maybe even Grizzly), check out Dodge City,KS, the Wizard of Oz Museum in Liberal, KS, the geographical center of the contiguous United States in Lebanon, KS, big ball of string in northern KS... Pony Express station and plane museum in NE... (I think three days have been exceeded)... Or, just have a great, safe trip to point B.
